The only people I've ever met who are in favor of cutting or eliminating SNAP are people born into privilege, told their status was all their own hard work, and believe that the people receiving food assistance could just snap their fingers twice and tap their heels together then BAM! they're out of poverty - but that they're too lazy to even do that. They believe SNAP beneficiaries should be punished because they can't ever imagine what it must be like to have not been born into privilege. As they say, the cruelty is always the point when it comes to modern American conservatism. They'd legalize shooting homeless people on sight if they knew they had the votes for it.
