It's cool that people are coming out of the woodworks to defend what is obviously a rape joke, because there are plenty of other public executions that don't involve sexual abuse but they chose to use Gaddafi anyway.

If I were thinking of a public execution of a leader by a crowd Gaddafi would be the first person I thought of and I wouldn't even remember the other part of it. I can't off the top of my head any other leaders who went out that way... the Shah?

fool_of_sound posted:Mussolini would be by go-to. Gaddafi is much more recent though, having happened within the last few years. It makes perfect sense that on a forum that follows Middle East Politics as closely as this 9ne does- Gaddafi might be one of the go-to examples of a leader being executed by a mob. In either case you have over a half dozen posters here telling you that you're basically the only person who saw a rape joke in that post. I think you might be overreacting a bit here.

The term "rape" and/or "sodomy" does not quite convey what the crowd did to him. He got a bayonet up his rear end to the hilt WHILE ALIVE and I think either of those other terms does not quite convey the amount of sexual violence that occurred. He was quite literally raped with a knife.

There are some cool programs with SNAP. New York City has been doing this Pharm to Farm thing, funded through the USDA, where they encourage the local (not chain) pharmacies to "prescribe" fruits and vegetables to patients with high blood pressure. The patients have to have a prescription for a blood pressure medication at the pharmacy and have to spend the money ($30/month) at local farmers markets so it helps boost the revenues of both the local independent pharmacies and the farmers markets while providing patients access to fresh fruits and vegetables, part of the DASH diet. I'm actually trying to figure out if I can get this or a similar program going at the pharmacy I work for in New Hampshire. Here's more info if anyone's interested. http://westviewnews.org/2019/05/pharma-to-farm-pharmacy-to-farm-prescriptions-program/

I thought I had heard at the time that he was raped with a bayonet or knife, to death. It was later confirmed that the gunshot was what actually killed him, but the rape was definitely publicised in the context of his death and I agree with you that Mussolini or Ceaucescu would be better comparisons if one didn’t want to include rape in the implications.

PT6A posted:I think the restrictions on prepared food are also designed to push people into the conservative family structure that these assholes idealize. Yeah, if you have one person taking care of things like cooking, cleaning and grocery shopping without having to work, it's pretty wasteful to be eating prepared food on a regular basis. But if you have a single person or, worse, a single parent, trying to fit that poo poo in around work and other life obligations, there's simply no time for preparing proper meals all the time (and buying the groceries, and doing the washing up afterward). And, of course, it's increasingly impossible to provide for a family with just one wage-earner, even if that person is working two jobs. No, its because they don’t want them eating prepared food which tends to be more expensive. However a “hot food ban” its a stupid way to address the problem when people love potato chips.
