Jerry Seinfeld is kinda hard to root for because he's experienced so little adversity. His Netflix special/documentary about his life showed that he really did have it easy - he grew up comfortably middle class, was the funny kid in school, tried standup and was good at it, and became rich and successful. Compared with many comedians who are broken individuals (depression, alcoholism, etc), Jerry's had it easy. In one episode of CiCgC, while they were driving around Norm Macdonald apparently quipped "Man, it's just been green lights for you all the way."

There's nothing wrong with experiencing no adversity in your life, but it sure can breed resentment.

Okay, I've been confused for a long time now, and that just pushed me over the edge, but what the gently caress is TikTok even supposed to be? The ads I've seen for it are just two people talking, not even about TikTok and maybe not even to each other, the only video that I've seen even make sense is big wet billy, and being on the periphery is just an entirely mystifying experience.

It's like the entire site was the brainchild of Jerry Seinfeld. "It's a video about nothing, that's the genius of it!"

I don't want to add to the derail, but as a bit of a pallette cleanser/contrast, Boris Vallejo is one of the nicest, humblest, sweetest human beings I've ever met. I worked at an art supply store for a couple years and he and his wife Julie (who is also super sweet and obscenely talented) used to come in pretty regularly. They'd often hang out to talk shop, discuss new materials/media, or just generally shoot the breeze with us. One time a coworker was stretched a bit thin financially and word was going around that she was looking for some side gigs. Naturally, the Vallejos asked if she'd do some basic reference poses for them at their studio and then grossly overpaid her. Top-tier human beings all around.

The most expensive piece of comic (well, technically magazine) art ever sold was a recent auction of a Boris Vallejo piece. I don't think he was the one selling it, so he didn't get the money, but it's a nice feather to have in your cap and he deserves it.

I like that tweet. Also, after directing a few TNG episodes because that's something they let series regulars do on long running shows, Frakes became a steadily working TV director on shows nothing to do with Trek, like NCIS: Los Angeles. :11tea:

e: Robert Duncan McNeill and Roxann Dawson are two more Trek regulars who now direct all kinds of shows on cable and networks

He also directed one of the TNG movies, and it was successful enough they decided to make another one.

He is a perfectly competent TV director.

TV is not a director's medium, he's there to shoot the script he was given within the time allotted.

*i dunno why I thought "perfectly competent" was a slight of some kind that needed defending against, lol

I would have it loving towed with absolutely no warning to a tow yard on the other side of town and then take the guy to small claims for my electric bill plus the cost of the tow. Inconvenience the rear end in a top hat as much as humanly possible. Waste his time and his money.

You shouldn't even need to pay for the tow in many cases. A lot of those companies will tow and charge a tow+lot storage fee to the car owner before releasing the car.
