Yeah, don't be ridiculous.

These speaker cables for $3680 for 10 feet, on the other hand...

The thing is, unlike snake oil like these dumb rocks and stupid-expensive speaker wires, I didn't think there's any argument that vacuum tube audio sounds different from transistor sound.
This is a really enlightening article on the topic.

Also, $250's hardly in the realm of audiophile territory. Add another zero and go from there.

Linky?

Remember, these days it is trivial and cheap to throw something together with good specs. If it's not 4k, then you can make something for pocket change.
Whether it is good quality, that is another matter.

One useful philosophy I have is that if it doesn't appear on Amazon (for anything >$10), then it's not worth considering. And if it is on Amazon, there are usually reviews.

My pleasure. I hope you get a nice new toy.

I will say that there are some decent little cameras: dashcams and gopro knock-offs that seem to be pretty darn good.
Couple of years ago, I got something that fractionally outperformed a GoPro Hero3 for 25% of the price.

The YI brand does some very nice dashcams/action cams.
They have a m4/3 body and lens which seems to get mixed reviews (hard to tell whether it's only 'okay' or if photosnobs are shunning it) but i bet it is one to keep an eye on in the near future.

I've bought a few, if you go off the measurements they give not the sizes then they're usually okay.

There are a few signs, like customer pictures and reviews (you can often at least tell from the pictures if it's plastic) or the advertised fabric.

If it's "chiffon" or 100% polyester, it's probably the unbreathable material, especially if it's a print.
Elastane or spandex with a polyester blend tends to be swimsuit feeling material.

Look for polycotton blends, rayon blends (tends to pill), and cotton. They may be using a blend different from the one advertised, but it will at least be close - and wearable!

All true- seconding that you should always look at ALL the pictures, especially ones ostensibly posted by customers- but 9/10 times, they're gonna lie in the ad, anyways. I've bought many a "cotton" item that was actually a plastic bag. Ymmv, though.

I wanted to pick up some Nickel-Zinc batteries for a dumb gadget that chews through alkalines and doesn't work properly with normal NiMH rechargeables (it always thinks they're moments from going flat because of the different voltage curve). Wanting something with the correct wall plug narrowed it down to half a dozen identical multi-battery-type chargers, all with a few cells thrown in at a decent price. I picked one that had AAs and waited.

It turned up today and... the listing I picked came with NiMH batteries, not Nickel-Zinc ones  If I hadn't learned to tune out all the extra keywords in listing titles I would have spotted it before I ordered, for once it was pretty specific.

The charger itself doesn't scream 'murder', and battery charger reviewers online (!!) say it's acceptable, though I'll never trust it enough to work unsupervised. And worst case, I have a few weeks to enjoy life before the new batteries arrive and burn me to death!

Even assuming that the knife section works, you'd still need to use two of these to actually cut a steak -- the fork to hold it down and the knife to cut it. It's just genius all around.
