I used a screwdriver to open a tin can this weekend. That’s something you wouldn’t do with a LASER‐etched Wera.

I stuck my Craftsman screwdriver into dirt to support my flower pot as I was moving it and now it's a little dirty and has surface rust. I think I should get a set of Wera just in case.

I know I'm mostly preaching to the choir but honestly the laser tips are so much better it's hard to believe. They work in halfway stripped screws, they hold screws for inserting into the hole better, even the slotted ones make slotted screws suck less. The Phillips actually work well in combination screws that you find in electrical things. My only complaint is the most useful slotted ones for me are the larger sizes which came with longer shanks than I like. Just means I'll have to buy more.

With all this Wera chat I figured I'd give my .02 cents I'm a commercial electrician and have been using my red robbie Wera screwdriver for 4 years now. This is probably the most used hand tool as an electrician and it sees magor abuse on a daily basis. It's been dropped in snow, mud, puddles, kicked around in dirt and gravel, dropped off rooftops and scissor lifts. It's frequently used as a punch with the back of my linesman to tighten lock rings, or open up knockouts on a box. poo poo, it was buried in a trench once but I spent an hour digging the spot back up just to get it back. To this day, the tip is still great on it. It still holds a screw tightly, and I've never had it strip the head of a screw either. I used Klein screwdrivers before Wera and those would usually last me 2 years before the tip was rounded out and the rubber handle falling apart. I also noticed that with Klein or cheap screwdrivers, my hand would be stiff or sore by the end of the day. Wera handles fit my hand like a dream and I've never had issues since switching to them. They are drat good screwdrivers. If I'm doing anything at home that requires screwing in 2 or more screws, I'll walk to the work truck and grab my work tools. And if I had a job where my tools were left onsite or at a workplace, I'd buy a Wera set for home. TLDR: Buy Wera screwdrivers. Photos of my beat up 4 year old Wera

I haven't been an electrician in a decade so I'm curious, does Klein still make the Journyman screwdrivers? I still have a set, they're nicer than Wihas, but not quite as nice as Weras, Klein's regular screwdrivers are pretty junky, their regular Linemans and dikes are just o.k., but the 2000 series are my gold standard for lineman pliers, they're made of rock hard tool steel that can cut all day, but they're still huge and hefty so they're good for beating locknuts off still, unlike other high quality cutty tool companies. Knipex loving rock for dikes, need to cut 0000 copper but you left your cable cutters in the truck? Just use like 4 cuts with your diagonal cutters!

My phillips #2 Wera laser tip has been missing since I moved like 6 months ago and that annoys me at least once a week. I know I could buy another one for $10 but I'm sure I'll find the original once I buy a house and fully unpack. I'll probably end up buying a whole second set of the laser tips so I can have an inside set and garage set since I like them so much. I got that set of those Wera insulated screwdrivers after I nearly blinded myself bridging hot and ground with a screwdriver and now I won't use any other screwdriver for poking at the angry pixies.

I used mine today for the first time. The maf on my brother's car needed to be cleaned and the screws were actually just a pile of rust. I had to laugh as I effortlessly turned it out with my prime day wera #1 that somehow grabbed something, thanks thread.

So I want to replace a power window regulator and had the idea to use one of these big suction cups (https://www.harborfreight.com/4-1-2-half-inch-diameter-suction-cup-40993.html ) to hold the glass up while it's disconnected from the regulator. Some videos I saw had folks jamming a shim or doorstop inbetween the glass and door to hold it up, but I thought a suction cup might be a little easier and more secure. Anyone ever tried something like this and had major regrets about it?

I'm too hamhanded and clumsy to use a dowel inside the door, plus I can't be arsed to cut one to length for such a job.

They will be cheap, there's going to be a relatively high failure rate, but being able to get a new balloon with no problems will make it worth it to the amateur balloon enthusiast.
