The stamp rally/Subway Masters episode was good! Lots of fun little vignettes involving various things in Nimbasa City from the games, Cilan being his nerdy self, and our heroes helping out a person and Pokemon with a problem. (Even though it's tied up with bad "filler" storylines sometimes, Ash and his friends being the sort of people who will go a day or so out of their way to help a pig find its pearl or a mime learn to cook is a big part of what makes them worth rooting for.) Not so good: the Alder episode. The writers were obviously going for "he acts goofy but he's actually a strong and wise person whom you can rely on when the chips are down," but they overplayed the "he acts goofy" part. He just seems underwhelming compared to Cynthia and Lance.

Which means that unless the show is doing anything past the current tournament arc it’s probably not going to happen. Then again, SwSh doesn’t drop until November so it’s possible that they could drag the Sun & Moon anime out a little while longer. I forget, does a new Pokemon anime typically start before, after, or around the same time that the next mainline game comes out?

Guzma vs Ash is semifinals, so im expecting there to be a mini-arc that interrupts the finals and deals with Mohn. Thats probably where Shaymin will do its thing.
