Prior to the rule of 3 i really wanted to run an entire army of the imperial space marine to just go full on movie marines.

The ISM is a one-per-army unfortunately.

It gets away from the all-lieutenant theme but you could get an Iron Hands Vanguard with a Primaris Captain/Lieutenant/Apothocary/Ancient and an Imperial Space Marine (who could be modeled as a Primaris) for just under 360 points.

Nothing has under 4 wounds, the Apothecary and the IH doctrine make them difficult to kill. The Ancient makes them do the “Even In Death, I Still Shoot” thing.

No board presence but narratively this is more of the “we sent 5 marines to clean out a planet” thing you see in fluff.

E: with Crimson Fists and everything being in units of 1 you wouldn’t need the Captain but you would lose the FNP.

So Aeronautica Imperialis is another skirmish game. To be expected almost.

But those are some adorable Thunderbolts though. :3:

Bought myself a Chaos Knight because its payday and im bad with money my Death Guard could do with a shooty distraction carnifex and I finally see why everyone loves the models so much. They're a joy to assemble and paint.

That was my first thought too. X-Wing seems really popular, so it would make sense for them to try and make a 40k version.

Those look like the old IA bases with double dials on them. I suspect it will be closer to Wings of War if they modernize it as it's closer to old IA.

The planes are in the same scale as the titans :ssh: It's likely all part of a slow plan to eventually relaunch Epic. The Specialist team doesn't have the manpower, budget, production capacity, etc. to do it all at once.

Also, Titanicus is great and I want to play Aeronautica. :colbert:

How do Armigers pair with the Guard, specifically Scions? I really like the Scion models and have a 1500 point or so battalion of them and am looking to expand. I know that the responsible choice is to add tanks/basilisks or what have you, but I think the Armiger models are amazing. I’d hate to throw my money away, but if they could at all work out for me then....

Hey, that's fine. Personally, I don't like Kill Team, have little interest in Warcry, and NOTHING could get me to play Age of Sigmar.

They're lords of war, so you could take a super heavy detachment but you'd need 3 units. You could add them as two separate super heavy auxiliary detachments I guess but you wouldn't get the CP.

I'm curious, what's your beef with Sigmar?

My hesitance started because I wasn't a huge fan of most of the models (read: I was mostly intimidated by the details) but now I have a lingering desire to dip my toes into the game with Contrast and a Seraphon start collecting box.

Can people familiar with the Sigmar rules tell me how similar Warcry is? From what little I know of both games, it seemed as if it was quite different.

Kill Team rules are very similar to 40k, and thus serves as a good onboarding game into 40k proper, but Warcry seemed like it had much less in common.

Oh man, you don't want to me get into this; it'll only end poorly. To keep things short and simple: I don't like anything about the setting and the game itself is full of mechanics I dislike. For example, I can not believe that GW is still pushing formations and formations of formations after the garbage fire that was 7th ed 40k.

I sometimes run a pair of Helverins with my Guard and they are very very good for their cost. They aren't as tough as a Russ but have an invulnerable, are quick, have access to really useful Stratagems and are a nightmare for light armor and Custodes. S7 -1 might not seem much but with 4d3 shots and 3 Damage all you have to do is sneak one or two wounds through.

Armigers come 1-3 per slot so you can take a few in a SHA. They're solid enough that the loss of Traditions doesn't hurt and the useful strats aren't bound to household.
