Chapter 5 Black Eagle question: I've read Sothis' guide on monster combat like 3 times and I feel like a big dumb idiot because I'm still really confused. Do the shield tiles have visible health bars anywhere? How long does the stun from breaking a shield tile last? Does the shield tile regenerate? If I break one shield tile and end my turn will it not attack on its turn? When it gains back its health does it un-stun itself and/or regain the shields? I realize I can just figure this out by trial and error but I'm out of divine pulses (the enemy intent for the reinforcements at the beginning kept lying!!!) and I really don't want to do this entire long slog of a chapter again. On a related note, does anything bad happen if I let Gilbert kill himself by charging into the monster like an idiot?

If a shield is cracked it needs one hit to break, solid yellow it needs two hits/a gambit to break. If you break a shield the stun lasts until your next attack. If you have four gambits you can break all full charge shields at once. Shields can be regenerated by monsters. If you only break one shield it will still attack. If you break all the shields but don't kill it, it won't attack.

Monsters are so much less intimidating than an array of normal units that it's funny Although I guess that it's part and parcel for the turn based tactics genre, see also XCOM, where one Sectopod with a couple of friends is a massive threat but one Sectopod by itself is target practice

eh sothis doesnt read that much like a kid to me or anything, she acts fairly normally, the game doesnt really emphasize her looking young and i know rl adults who look like she does. its not really a nowi or elise thing imo, where there's a ton of fetishization of their visual youth (actual youth in elise's case) and they both just act like kids

so I'm confused: new month started, got to B rank support with Ashe. A few days later he asks to join my house and I say yes. I have to reload the save, I get the B rank support again, and then the week passes and he doesn't ask to join my house. I go up to him to recruit him and he passes. Did I gently caress something up?

She's just a voice in your head. The implications of it are rather sad, since Byleth just wears a wedding band with no one they are married to. Though Sothis mentions after you're dead the two of you can be together, and since she's a goddess that's a promise she can actually keep. I think it's certainly the most bittersweet of the S ranks, and as you said, she doesn't act like a child.

Does the route split mean completely different maps after the school phase? Because yeah, doing the school phase 4 times is a bit meh, but I guess different paralogues might make it more bearable. Doing that house twice though just sounds like a bit much.

Thanks for linking that Tea Party guide a few pages ago. Other than a lost item guide (which is here ) I've had the same annoying experience with lovely game sites that only tell you what fishing is for a paragraph and nothing else. Google nowadays really is proper curated, so hard to find stuff with it.
