don't have quite enough data points but at minimum it's a 72 month note. 72 months of $2,384/mo gets you a total of $171,648, so that's workable at about 3% with $20K down to get you to $174k car. He has paid down $36k against the loan so far over 9 months so that pretty well ties to a 72 month loan at 3% with $20K down. I don't think he could have put any more money down with his current payment and equity, so the loan can't be any shorter in term at that payment. Since he couldn't put any more money down, unfortunately that means that he probably has a decent rate assuming that 72 month terms are correct. The comedy option is that he put down $20K and he has an 84 month loan at like 7.5%.
