One of his biggest strengths in his senate race was leaning on his El Paso native status and talking about being from and having love for his border community. He's been more scattered in this presidential race when he has a special position as a former representative of a border community, and so he comes off as just another generic white guy running. If his campaign goes nowhere else, it should be used to elevate that narrative from his senate race. (I know Julian Castro has also already done great work in this area of elevating issues around immigration.)
