It isn't as easy as "fossil fuel bad" sadly, mainly because oil companies aren't the only cause, we are a huge part of the equation. However even ignoring what a very rapid transition from fossil fuels in the UK would do to people's lives and livelihoods (think hard Brexit x 1000) and just looking at the research money we're talking 100s of millions, it isn't small beer. By all means hammer the companies involved (no points, no science museum signs etc until they do far more) but it isn't a simple problem.
