Metal pits usually kinda suck, if they exist at all. Punk and -core pits are more fun, but you run the risk of injury. Said injuries shouldn't result on purpose though and if anyone is intentionally trying to gently caress people up, then the crowd should sort it out in similar fashion.

Beelzebozo posted:Awww, I've been loving it. I liked their debut a lot and then not much from them since. But like Freefall is just a really good Architects song, the riff @3:26 of Sleepless is Tool, there's some good Rammstein copies, there's some good Invent, Animate copies… the new tape is pretty good, if not wholly original. i've never listened to Unprocessed before but I did listen to the title track single earlier and was into it, definitely gonna check out the full length. Haven't had a chance to check out the new Contortionist yet cause I've been trapped on conference calls all day but I was not a fan of Clairvoyant, so assuming it's more like that than like Language it's probably something I'll listen to once

I have fully come around on this new Shooga in 2019 who can have a difference of opinion and still be civil about it. I disagree with you on hxc dancing, but I love you and want you to be happy at shows. Do you, my dude.

It never stopped me going to shows or having fun. Have a great time at that show man. We listen to angry music for idiots. It’s important and good to recognize that and still enjoy it.

this new Contortionist EP solidifies that their move from run-of-the-mill, BTBAM-ripoff djent band to... whatever the hell they are these days... was absolutely the right choice. All Grey, the third song, is only 1:57 long but is essentially only one minute of music minus a mostly silent intro and an extended fade out, but it's one of the best, most beautiful loving minutes of music i've ever heard. i wish they extended that to about three and a half if not five minutes. hell, just repeat the one verse that's there and gives a little more. also, bc of their 1979 cover, i went back and listened to actual Smashing Pumpkins and boy does Billie Corgan have a whiney dead cat screech that is extremely hard to listen to. Michael Lessard does a way better job

Contortionist and other bands like that at this point are almost their own subgenre, though I wouldn't know what to call it. While we're on the subject, can people recommend stuff in that vein? The big 3 that come to mind are BTBAM, Contortionist, and TesseracT.

If you like TesseracT, check out Monuments, the other band that came out of Fellsilent splitting up. Another Trimmed Beard prog metal band I would recommend is The Safety Fire. But if you're putting BtBaM in that group then I'm not sure I understand what "own subgenre" you're going for here. Do you just mean progressive metal?

I guess it's all proggy metal yeah, but those bands get a lot of mileage out of the more mellow and atmospheric parts. I guess TesseracT and Contortionist fall into the category more than BTBAM, that's true. I forgot about Monuments and Safety Fire, thanks for reminding. Also if you like Safety Fire check out Good Tiger, ex-Safety Fire people.

Google suggested I check out the new EP from The Human Condition, who I'd never heard of. It's not anything mind blowing, but it's a'ight. If nothing else, it's a decent way to kill 20min. Here's a song from it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_2ytLUFrM0
