The Winnipeg Jets will select Adam Gaudette as a 4C. I think this will be the year Gaudette is either going to stick it as a 3C (displacing Sutter) and be a legit long term NHL player or he will just not quite make it and top out at AHL star/NHL injury call up. He was pretty sheltered last year and got destroyed in the faceoff circle (4th worst % excluding low volume) and didn't kill penalties much last year so I dont see him developing into a limited minutes 4th line defensive specialist. If it's the former he can push Soderberg to wing or 4C, if it's the later then so be it. Adam Gaudette is a very forgettable hockey player. I don't see the third line centre people say he'll be as soon as this year. It's more due to the lack of centre depth on the Canucks than any real aptitude for the role. He's brutal at faceoffs and isn't much to write home about at either end of the rink. I think he's better suited as a right winger long term.

Detroit takes Emil Bemstrom Taylor Hall - Elias Pettersson - Craig Smith Michael Ferland - Logan Couture - Cody Glass Emil Bemstrom - Joe Veleno - Jordan Eberle Marcus Foligno - Tyler Bozak - Cody Eakin TJ Brodie - Cale Makar Quinn Hughes - Travis Hamonic Juuso Valimaki - Slater Koekkoek Sergei Bobrovsky I got a couple guys playing out of position, I guess, but hopefully Brodie would be fine playing his natural side and Bemstrom supposedly likes to shoot on his off-side. I'd eventually move Couture to wing as he ages, slide Glass into 2C, and probably eventually have Hughes and Makar together once they settle in. If Makar/Hughes can play top 4 right out of the gate, then I think this roster is competitive now and definitely has a pretty wide open window for several years with the Hall/Pettersson/Makar/Hughes/Bobrovsky core, especially if Glass/Veleno/Bemstrom pan out.
