Nah, if it was me who'd gotten it the cushion would be much thicker :saddowns: but it's pretty nice not to have to fight the arm rests to stay at the level I like anymore.

You couldn't grok my race car, but you dug the roadside blur.
I found my blood test numbers from 2016 and since then, my LDL and Triglycerides have gone down and my HDL has gone up.

My diet is more or less the same (horrible but with calorie counting). I lost 35 pound since then and do hard cardio at least once a week.

BIG KOOL TELLIN' Y'ALL TO KEEP IT TIGHT
Got a nice surprise at my new job, been here about 2 months after getting laid off at a previous job at around the 2.5 year mark. Found out this month is quarterly bonus month & after doing a ton of heavy lifting with a call center build-out, getting some last minute work from home PCs set up & 100+ new hires configured in the last 3 weeks, I got a nice tidy little bonus of $800 to go with the OT I'd been pulling. Wasn't expecting it at all but dang was it nice :)

Just submitted my first novel to six more literary agents. After a few weeks of feeling down due to work stress, I recommitted myself to pushing forward and working toward seeing my name in print.

Being productive again feels good.

Call me "pixeltits"

I woke up to this:

I scooped up this obviously abandoned stray off the street on Wednesday and she is the sweetest, most loving creature I have ever met. Got her spayed, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and microchipped and she is adjusting well to life as an indoor kitty. Whenever I'm at my computer, she just wants to be in my lap.

It breaks my heart that someone could abandon her, but their loss is my our gain. She was skinny, dirty, had fleas, not spayed, no microchip, no missing cat posters.

Now she's mine, and she knows it.

One of my homeless clients who has been struggling with MS for years and years finally got approved for housing and treatment today. He's been really struggling a lot recently so this news is loving amazing. I came about as close to crying at my job as I probably ever will when we got to change his address from the shelter to his new apartment.

A bit of bad, a bit of good.

My aunt found out she had breast cancer and also had multiple inflamed lymph nodes. Worrying that it had spread, she of course elected for immediate surgery to deal with them and test things. The results came back and they "captured" the cancer before it spread, there were no traces of cancer in the lymph nodes, just the tumor. She's going in for a second round to clean up some questionable tissue in the location where the tumor was just to be safe, and will be in therapy for a bit, but this is pretty much the best case scenario I think. She's 73, so hopefully she'll be able to live out the rest of her life without having to worry about it again.

I give money to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. I get a lot of mail from them because of that. I never open most of it, because it’s mostly just thank-you form letters, and requests for more money. I’ve had an envelope from them sitting around my house for a couple of days. Seeing it sitting there reminded me of them, so I went online and sent in another donation. For some reason, I decided to open the envelope after I’d done that. In addition to the usual picture of some poor kid with cancer and a letter asking me to send more money, there was a book of address labels pre-printed with my information. Each label has a piece of artwork drawn by a patient at St. Jude’s. There’s a dog, and a butterfly, and a ladybug, and a caterpillar, and a kitty. They’re all lovely, and every piece of mail I send is going to have one of those on it until I run out. I normally send one letter per month, which is my rent check, so these are going to last me a while.

Edit: They also sent me a notepad featuring some of the art.

Yesterday I replaced my Jeep's brake pads and rotors, and did a brake fluid bleed/flush. My car feels and sounds so much better now, and I saved a lot of money by not taking it to a mechanic.

I discovered the nearby Wawa has a free air pump with pressure sensor, so you can set it to whatever PSI you want and it beeps when the tire is good.

And then I had :burger: for dinner.

I work customer service at a casino, so there are a lot of both angry and happy drunks coming through, a huge portion of which are Australian for whatever reason.

I loaded up one drunk Australian's freebies and, before he left, said, "Thank you, gud sir, and many a good felatio to you in the days to come." And left.

Needless to say I about cried laughing.

I have a cat in my arms purring, and a cat behind my head on the back of my recliner purring, and a cat on my computer screen purring. It's pretty good.

Also, I got a bunch of much-needed work done on my car, yesterday. My suspension actually suspends, now, and I don't have to worry about the wheels snapping off from the stress of Detroit roads. I also got my EGR valve replaced, so I was able to clear the code and now my remote start works. Yay! I gave her a thorough washing to celebrate, and it feels like a new car. I'm still thinking about replacing her, but it's nice to have her all fixed up and looking good.

I know now why you Cuddle. But it's something I can never do.
I've been in my Computer help-desk job for a year now. A year out of retail, a year out of manual labor. I was so concerned i'd become complacent in this position, begin getting annoyed at little things and let that consume my mentality and hate work again... But its been a year and every day i walk into work i'm caught Amazingly off guard at how nice it is. yeah there are annoying parts but they don't sully the feeling of accomplishment that 10 years working in convenience stores for my company that i'm afforded this privilege of work.

I know how you feel, I've been in my current help-desk job for about 6 years, and it was fine for most of it, but recently things have been going downhill fast and I've been made redundant effective August 31st. I will however get a large payout due to it being voluntary (if I hadn't taken it I probably would have been hit with a compulsory redundancy later on which would not have the big payout but a far smaller severance). While I haven't had any luck finding something else yet, part of me is glad of that because while I find my next thing at least I can take some me time to reset myself before whatever my next job turns out to be finally hires me.

I finally took a DNA test, since I have zero contact with my dad's side and mostly limited contact with my mom's side (and unfortunately not a lot are left anyway.)

I found out that I'm all Celtic ancestry. Both sides of my family are from the same little chunk of Europe/Ireland/Scotland that took turns invading, killing, loving, and invading each other again. A not-too-distant cousin already got ahold of me to say hello. I finally have some family and know where I'm from! It's nice I can actually incorporate some of my ancestral designs into my artwork. No wonder weaving runs in the family.

So I had some old credit card debt on my records from an emergency 'do or die' sort of situation about 5 years back. I've never quite been able to pay it back and since it's 5 years old, I figured I'd just wait out the clock and let it fall off naturally in 2 years.

Well, it fell off 2 years ahead of schedule. Now my credit has gone from 'terrible' to 'merely bad' Dunno why it happened, but I'm not going to complain.

I finally got to terminate the business relationship with one of my hands down most annoying, entitled, assholish clients. To give you some perspective on just how much of a pain in the rear end this woman was, a financial institution just said "nah, your $11m dollars isn't worth us dealing with you anymore." One of my favorite phone calls I ever got to make. Basically said, "You have until the end of business today to come get your check or the bank is going to over night it to you on Wednesday."

I wish I could go into detail about all the poo poo this woman has tried to pull over the years (I've only dealt with her for the last year, but I got stories upon stories of her). I just feel bad for whatever banker thinks they just hit a homerun when she comes walking into their office with a few giant checks. Boor bastard, they don't know what they're in for.
