I’m watching Gremio - Palmeiras in the Libertadores and seeing Luiz Adriano, Gustavo Gomez and Felipe Melo all on the same team is making me chuckle.

Melo of course has already been carded for a nasty tackle. His beard is ridiculous looking.

Luiz Adriano looks a little bigger than I remember, Felipe Melo looks much less in shape but not fat, Gomez looks about the same.

Forgot to mention that Luiz Felipe Scolari is the Palmeiras manager.

Look at Luiz Adriano’s pic on his Wikipedia page. He’s a thick boy.

Booze. I bet the Russian pro footballer drinking culture is like England 30 years ago especially if you’re playing in Moscow.

Everton is dope and I'm very happy he hasn't been sold yet but there are rumors that Atletico de Madrid were looking into him. The only official proposal was from China but it wasn't very good. I just kinda hope we can keep him until the end of the year because he's our best shot at a trophy, he basically won this match by himself.

This ref in Internacional - Flamengo appears to not subscribe to the new handball rules and it’s good.

Also it may be my tv but the Flamengo away kits almost look like Fluminense ones. There’s something making pieces of it look green.

Meanwhile, Atletico Mineiro is in the semifinals of Sudamericana. I hadn't realized that they were doing the one game final already this year, and it's dumb as hell. I can't imagine a single one of the final possibilities that is improved by having it in Asuncion.

That one game final thing is so loving stupid, there must be some good bribes going on for it because I can't believe the organizers are stupid enough to think that it would make more money by itself

I’m sure the sponsors pay more or something. It makes me wonder why UEFA ever switched.

I'm expecting the single match finals concept to fail miserably when transferred to South America, where no one gives a gently caress about watching the finals in person if their team isn't involved and most people are broke as hell. It's also rear end competitively, but I guess CONMEBOL don't care because it's probably easier to favor River that way.

Costa Rica will play a friendly against Uruguay in a a few minutes.

Most importantly our uruguayan coach Gustavo Matosas resigned yesterday, he said in a press conference that he didn't know coaching a national team would be so boring and that club football was his thing so he would pay to rescind his contract.

Apparently he had an offer from a Mexican club but today his signing was vetoed by the club's board.

To add to the soap opera, apparently he was cheating on his wife with multiple local models, one has been confirmed but there are rumors of at least 5, including one underage. If the thing about the underage girl is true then I hope he burns for it.

I don't care either way since because of CONCACAF's dumb rear end qualifiers we're already in the hex and he was an overpaid fraud anyway, but lmao at all of this stupid drama

US was v static until they finally changed shape around minute 60 and added a man in midfield. It’s looked a hell of a lot better since, some decent forward interplay and chances from the newbies
