They needed there to always be an enemy population out beyond the frontier against whom they could wage periodic wars, both because they thought war was good and toughened up society, and also as a safety valve to release the tensions baked in to their inherently self-destructive social order.

Tbh I'd be more worried about the military taking over than 1930s style fash propagated by terminally online chuds, not only because of trump supportes but also centrist libs who are not only engaging in the rehabilitation of the natsec sector and neocons but who also have a sick fascination with having the "troops" restore "order". Also lay off that demographics is destiny poo poo, it's not useful politically because white supremacy can expanded to include hispanic whites to retain a majority and maybe even east asians.
