So that Banu defender they are teasing.

There's two Banu ships. The Merchantman and the Defender. Straightforwardly a nomadic trade vessel and a fighter meant to escort it. But according to Chris Roberts Vision of the Space Future, large ships are both much faster and longer ranged than small ships. So even though the fighter has literally one job, and even though its faster and longer ranged than average fighters, it cant remotely keep up with the one ship it is meant to protect.

My personal bugaboo with this project is stupid game design like this where they can't seem to look forward to how the own poo poo theyve established is actually going to play out.

See also having like 6 landing pads (or w/e) at Grim Hex for every pirate in the entire star system... there's supposed to be hundreds of thousands of people spread over like a hundred systems, and this is among the more piratey... how the gently caress is this supposed to work?

See, the Citizens say that FUD goons want the game to fail, but I genuinely want it to come out as designed because I want to see the fallout from the thousands of stupid decisions like this one. Currently they can explain everything away as "ALPHA!!!!" but when it's finally in a finished, working-as-intended game? There will be no denying how hosed it is.

Two options:

1) Instancing

2) Massive traffic jams for landing pads

Since 2 isn't an option because for that to happen, 1 can't happen, and 1 will happen because CIG won't get thousands of player instances.

The goalposts can be moved. Then it will simply be "Its only tier 1, tier 2 will make it better. Its a game in development!"

Its a far cry from the early days though, when CIG were taking their time to release a completely polished product, and not a buggy unfinished mess like other games, because CR is a perfectionist, yadda yadda.

Some backers even these days still try and play the CR is a perfectionist card, which is hilarious to say the least when you look at what he is releasing. Unless it being a perfect mess counts.

It's made from left over plywood and an old garage opener guys, it didn't cost much at all.

On a completely unrelated note the JR Fabs has a pc desk for only $2500!

It wouldn't surprise me if What Crobbers knew about "construction" is that MDF is "cheap" and so they shouldn't use it and insisted on plywood.

If you've ever played a fantasy RPG you've probably come across some kind of quest or other that takes place in ancient ruins populated with the ghosts of inhabitants long past, who don't know they're dead or what happened to them. They still go through the motions of life even though everything they thought they knew is long gone. Sometimes you can save one here or there, but predominantly if you try to explain their situation you just wind up getting attacked.

Star Citizens are like that.

Except in the prior example the ruins actually exist.
