Hey look the science of dialectical materialism is always adapting to changes in the material conditions of the time and I'm afraid that the synthesis is horny capitalists throwing money at women to get insulted sorry that's just what the revolution looks like.

Julio Cruz posted:"I don't think the EU will get rid of the backstop and the EU says they won't get rid of the backstop, but the government says that actually they will get rid of it after all" Peston has certainly been the most credulous and outright loving wrong major journalist I've seen recently. I mean it's only a few days since he was saying Corbyn was on the ropes over Brexit and his latest offer of a unity government would horribly backfire.

The 2008 crash broke him out of blinkered liberalism so he floated around asking why people were unhappy with the world which made him start asking the right questions even if he wasn't getting to the right answers and so he was one of the few mainstream journalists to view Corbyn as a good bet for leader and for the right reasons when the election happened. Unfortunately the referendum did then break his brain and he's just spouting out all kinds of nonsense and fantasy about the EU and NATO as absolutely essential components of British society and so he's steadily gotten wronger and wronger again.

So I've possibly got a job as a contractor meaning I either need to setup my own company or use an umbrella company. What involved in the stuff I'd need to handle myself like NI contributions if buy a company for it? I'd quite like a costco card

I'd quite like a costco card I'm working independently atm, not much is involved when its just you, you need to inform HMRC you're self employed, check self-assessments and VAT requirements. Make sure you keep a record of every expense. HMRC were really helpful. We're in different fields, but its probably similar to some degree. Make sure you are truely self-employed as well, so its not just the company fobbing off your employment rights. The two questions are; do you choose where and when you work? and do you choose how you are paid for work? As for setting up a business, I can't help other than saying that https://www.pegme.co.uk seems to be available.

That's what I use for my self-publishing stuff. I just registered on the HMRC website as a sole trader under my own name, and that was it really. I paid an accountant to file my taxes for me, but I could have probably done it myself because my expenses were really simple.

Oh, the joy of IR35! If you are private sector you don't have to worry about that until april next year, but if you are doing government work you do jave to worry. You can setup your own company (call it ukmt ltd), then have the company employing you pay that like they were paying Dell or bnp. Once you have the money you can either be a dodgy oval office and not pay your taxes, or you get an accountant and pay them to sort it all for you, or you can do it yourself if you're feeling brave. Using an umbrella company is sort of like using an accountant as they should do all your taxes for you but at a cost. And you are totes a hidden employee but there is gently caress all you can do until next year as it's still too easy just to pay you double and not have to worry about paying your pension. Don't forget to pay into a pension!

well I'd like a costco card and the umbrella companies take a pretty loving huge cut that i can't imagine an accountant would get anywhere near. Idk how much stuff i need to keep to hand but if I can get my driving to/from work covered as an expense that is also another thing worth making a limited company for

Here's my guide to short term bogus self employment: Step 1: cash the cheques, don't make a fuss Step 2: find a job you actually want Step 3: sue the gently caress out of them for every single penny of holiday pay & statutory sick pay from the whole time you were there
