Modern Simpsons seems remarkably unfunny--I mean that in the sense that it's hard to see how even a semi-discerning individual could think 95% of the jokes meet even the most basic standards of humor. Is most modern television comedy this bad?

The "Mapple" clip is terrible, but there's a shadow of a decent joke in there. It itself is a throwaway gag, but at least there's an attempt to subvert expectations when Homer is playing the Distracted Driver game. Unfortunately it then devolves into a total nonsense plot about being audited? a joke about a prize winning being called a business expense (that literally makes no sense)? and a re-tread of the "Homer uses device to make a silly mustache" joke from less than 2 min prior.
