I'm enjoying both the books and the series for expanse. I may not have especially discerning tastes. Even after having a class specifically on media literacy I just don't manage to analyze shows or books in that depth while reading/watching. I even took that class specifically *to* do that, and I just don't manage it.

I thought I was clever by "deconstructing" every joke and trope, until the point where I just became cynical. I mean, I can call exact lines of dialogue, plot twists etc. on first viewing, but I don't much these days because I realized knowing the punchline isn't being clever, just like memorizing a joke book doesn't make you a comedian.
