Without doxxing yourself it's impossible for us to know how much of your success is "earned" -- don't doxx yourself -- but generally speaking all successful people are successful because of hard work *and* luck *and* privilege, all three. Plenty of other people worked as hard as you did and whereas smart as you are but just didn't have the luck to get as far. He would tout his business success of billions and the response would be "But you started with, like, 50 million from your dad. You did good, very good, mazel tov, honestly. But that is a pretty significant leg up." And his inability to grasp that was something else.

bwm: I made a friend today whose mom turned out to be mildly famous in the horse-realm. Her freshman year of college her mom flew her 4+ hours one-way home every weekend.
