Seems to me that you liberals are just jealous of people who have done well. Much of it is likely due to my smug self-contentment at my success. But I do suspect that most of you are very anti-success / anti-rich, no matter what.

Without doxxing yourself it's impossible for us to know how much of your success is "earned" -- don't doxx yourself -- but generally speaking all successful people are successful because of hard work *and* luck *and* privilege, all three. Plenty of other people worked as hard as you did and whereas smart as you are but just didn't have the luck to get as far.

It sucks with this guy though because he gets progressively more racist, sexist, classist, able-ist and generally hateful every time you respond to him.

He is like one of those big painful zits that's too far under the skin to pop, and if you claw at it it just gets worse and worse. Ignore it!

Do they prescribe accutane anymore? I took it when I was 15 and it was hosed UP.

The first two weeks, your sebaceous glands go in maximum overdrive and you get tons of deep, painful cysts that gradually fade away along with any semblance of moisture on your skin.

Lol that's the part you think is hosed up, not the part about how if you get pregnant on it any kids that live will have hands attached directly to their shoulders. Retinoids do basically the same thing.

This all reminds me about how 150 years ago, when Romney was on the national stage, either as a candidate or just before. He would tout his business success of billions and the response would be "But you started with, like, 50 million from your dad. You did good, very good, mazel tov, honestly. But that is a pretty significant leg up." And his inability to grasp that was something else.

I just got a new car and had to put 95% of my savings down on it and also had to take on a really high APR

quote:

So, I recently got my license and, shortly after, decided to go get a car. I went to my local Honda dealer looking for a car I had already found online. Once I found out it was there, I was pretty much already at the point of being sold on it. It was a Honda Civic 2016 LX with only 36,777 miles and no issues or past accidents for $13,677.

I got with a representative and we started talking about my car credit. Well, I had absolutely no car credit, since this would be my first financed car, so the guy told me I would have to put a larger amount down on the car. I originally came in with the intention of only putting down $2,000 max out of my $3,580 in savings down on the car. So, when I said $1,500 and the guy asked if I could put $2,000 instead to increase my chances of getting a loan, I was a little discouraged but understanding since I had no credit and I really wanted this deal. The guy then walks to the back to give this information to the banks. After about 20 minutes, he comes back and asks if I could put down $2,500. I start getting a little annoyed at this point, but I agreed none the less. He walks to the back and I wait about another 20 minutes. The guy comes back and, this is when I get really freaked out, he says that the bank is willing to give me a loan, but I would have to put down $3,500. I sat there for a solid minute to think this one out, but I really wanted to get a car to start a new job I've been looking at for a while and I didn't want to die in a junker vehicle, so ultimately I decided to go for it. I was getting my paycheck in a few days anyways and I live with my father, so it didn't seem like too much of a risk. Once I'm signing papers, I end up getting to the part where I see my APR and loan term. This is where my bum is starting to feel a little sore. It was a 6 year loan with a 25% APR. And so now, I have a car that ended up being $25,000 instead of $13,677.

Disagree. Plenty of people made it due to their own virtue, rather than privilege (unless you define privilege as almost all-encompassing).

While I agree with you, this isn't exactly a rebuttal to my point that people do earn success through their own merit, and you liberals just don't like it.
