OK so in the US in a an accident like this the standard is you get 2x your medical bills in "pain and suffering" and normally your lawyer takes 1x medical bills as payment so whatever your medical bills are, you literally pocket the same amount even after paying the lawyers. Running up the medical bills is easy as gently caress and a moral duty. Oh and if you feel sad because of being hurt, that's on them too and the shrink bills go on the tab too.

OP didn’t say he was convicted of just stupid poo poo. She said he wasn’t convicted at all.

OP’s boyfriend explicitly “is not on probation”. He is, it seems, on house arrest.

OP says “he gets off sep. 14”, so he’s not awaiting trial.

That leaves a conviction. It may be a conviction for traffic tickets (and failure to appear in court in relation to the tickets), but that’s still a conviction.

Either there is a misunderstanding about what a conviction is, or OP’s boyfriend is lying like a president.

Or the trial date is sep. 14?

South Carolina does in fact have "Pre-Trial House Arrest"

Pretty sure that's about buying whole life insurance as an investment, not banking on your teenager dying. That's been a thing for decades.

education science knows a lot but has barely scratched the surface. unfortunately almost none of it is applied because people dont want to hear, "have being a teacher be a dedicated (even at higher ed level) high-paying prestigious job with strong diversity quotas, have small classes, shrink administration control and make admin a support facility for teacher-led initiatives rather than the other way around, have a variety of class styles available rather than one, adjust classes to students, proceed at the rate of learning not at the rate of syllabi, class time should never be for dumping information (that should be openly developed and maintained elsewhere MOOC style) just because that is the one thing in education that has an illusion of scaling" etc etc, i.e., poo poo that costs money and reduces the power of those currently in power

so now admins will just invoke biotruths to justify existing outcomes, as its always used to do. and the research backing biotruths bullshit will get amplified and soak funding just like it does in econ, evopsych, etc

As someone who just finished their masters what you described sounds like heaven, definitely all the problems I saw in academia. Would attract teachers who like the subject matter and / or teaching rather than the "those who can't do, teach, and do so for the paycheck" type of people

No poo poo I've been teaching high school science to low-achieving students for like five years now but my degree's not in teaching so I'm always freaking out with imposter syndrome about how I don't actually know how to teach well and not actually doing anything really effective, and seeing stuff like this that I know is true but that I've never heard of before let alone been actually trained on, and which I would never be allowed to implement in my classroom because my district wants to be super uniform, makes me freak out even worse.

So yeah. It's reinforcing my decision this year to go back to college at night and get a graduate certificate in an entirely different field and run like hell come May. I can't live this stressed.
