But unfortunately as we all know and have witnessed from this incident, that level of access goes both ways, and can expose people to a lot of utterly vile poo poo. Something that I don't usually have to deal with, but does come up from time to time. e: also Twitter actually lets you display posts in chronological order compared to whatever the gently caress the assholes at Facebook are doing so that's another point in their column. Things like this are why I don't really engage with social media too much. It feels like this whole situation escalated way more than it should have almost as a direct result of social media. Like yeah Alec Holowka was a pretty horrible person for doing what he did, but I don't think him being ousted on social media really helped anyone involved. I respect Zoe Quinn for coming out as a victim, but I hate how it brought out the worst in so many people and how they get away with it under the guise of relative anonymity. It's really depressing to think about how much the internet can dehumanize people and cause so much harm.
