Having a GM like Schneider is such a competitive advantage. This is amazing. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they knew they could get involved at a point of maximum leverage as soon as Houston tagged Clowney.

2016-1-22: Josh Doctson - Washington
2016-1-23: Laquon Treadwell - Vikings
2016-1-26: Paxton Lynch - Broncos
2016-1-28: Josh Garnett - 49ers

Think they're the first 4 players from the 1st round of 2016 to fall out of the league? Robert Nkemdiche is probably joining them soon.

2017-2-53: Teez Tabor - Lions

Joins Malik McDowell from the 1st two rounds in 2017.

2019-3-68: Jachai Polite

lol

Man, 3 consecutive WR's drafted in the 1st round in 2016 and Will Fuller's the best of them.

It's not like it was just us, although I wasn't one of those goons.

It's crazy that he's managed to take himself out of the league or is in the position to be begging for a practice squad spot now.

I guess I don't want to play football for a living either, but I don't have the choice to just say gently caress it and throw it all away.

Interesting, reading his mockdraftable, his stats are pretty poor for his position: https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/jachai-polite

and his NFL profile is pretty unkind:

https://www.nfl.com/prospects/jachai-polite?id=3219504f-4c11-3764-b3c6-cc83363f62fb

quote:

Prospect Grade

NFL BACKUP OR SPECIAL TEAMS POTENTIAL

Just one year of big-time production, but he's an instinctive rusher with natural feel for attacking the pocket. Polite's frightening speed to the edge on tape was missing in his pre-draft workouts as he showed up much heavier and with purported hamstring issues during all of his testing. The game tape shows an ability to rush the pocket with a fluid, diverse attack, but he might not have the grit necessary to play the run as a 3-4 outside linebacker on early downs. His troubling post-season that included bad combine interviews, bad workouts and additional weight around the midsection has substantially clouded his draft standing into the boom-or-bust category.

Guess he got fat at the dumbest time possible?

I thought it was a fine swing for the Jets to take given their need at EDGE, and I think a lot of pundits/posters felt similarly. I guess Polite’s character/work ethic issues were just way deeper than anyone suspected.

Guy still got life changing money out of it, though, if he doesn’t latch on somewhere else. He got to keep his $1.1 million bonus I think. I hope he uses it responsibly.

Polite showed stuff that made him a first round pick on tape. The only problem is he looked like a UDFA the next play and everyone figured out he was a total disaster and only the Jets were stupid enough to make the pick anyhow.
