I haven’t seen the first season since it last aired so I must have forgotten why Roman never has sex with his girlfriend?

The actress seemed super familiar so I looked her up and she was the Android from Dark Matter.

Episode 4 is up on HBO GO for some reason.

edit: With guest appearances from Holly Hunter, Antifa, emotional transference, and a new Jaguar that might make me rethink my hatred of crossovers!

Everything about the funeral was loving hysterical. Lester touched us all...

Also, SLIME PUPPY.

For anyone else about to stroke out because IMDB doesn't bother to list anyone not a main character in this show, the biographer is actually Gretchen from BB.

Kendall has been so good this season. Jeremy Strong has that 'dead inside' look like no one else in the world. It's eery, really.

Yeah. Okay. Good.

His repetition of simple phrases and words reminds me of when I was suffering great loss. It's awesome to have a show where a traumatic event actually has an effect on a character past an episode or two.

Nope, you're right, Tom's a pure ladderclimber and proxy for Shiv's intrigue, and she doesn't even need him for that anymore, which I guess is why she shuffled him to the wing of the corporation she's least into. Greg had to come up with his entire management strategy for ATN.

Kendall is the only kid who understands how WayStar operates (threatening, blackballing, smothering with cash) and now his shame and indebtedness have crushed his desperation to be liked, he can actually embrace it like his dad intended. It's dark as gently caress. Loved this episode.

Professor Shark
May 22, 2012

Agreed, Kendall was definitely broken down to nothing and I think he's being built up by Logan to take over the company. Maybe he doesn't even know it, as I felt he was being honest with Shiv.

It also crossed my mind that Logan could be setting all three children up to inherit, as in the Safe Room scene they appeared to be selling the Pierce representative together in different ways

Logan wants just a part of all his kids to take over; he's not that happy with any of them as a sole successor. But he's a greedy billionaire that's always gotten his way, so he'll make the heir he wants, one way or the other. Or die trying and leave a giant shitshow behind. But that would mean the show not having Brian Cox anymore, and that's simply unacceptable.

I actually kind of welled up a bit at the Kendall/Shiv scene at the end. How does this show make me feel so sorry for such a scumbag?

Every character had something big to chew on this episode. One of the show's best, easily. Did anyone else think Logan orchestrated the "shooting" to prevent Rhea from leaving?

Well it sounds like a dude committed suicide, so that seems unlikely to me. But the fact that you can ask that as a serious question and actually have to think about it says something about the character they've crafted.

Same, but I think Ken is a different kind of scumbag from the rest. He was a scumbag created by the circumstance of his birth and who his family is (not to mention his addiction), while it seems to me like the rest of them are more scummy by nature. I can see his shred of humanity sometimes which is why he’s the only one I’m rooting for. Oh, and Greg of course. And since it’s fun to try to figure out who I hate the most, I’d say either Logan or Connor. Logan is just pure evil pretty much. And everyone thinks Connor’s run is a joke but...we here in the real world know differently.

I just started this show a couple weeks ago and now I’m bummed I have to wait week to week. It started out pretty good and has only gotten better.

This show is amazing. Here's my two hopes for future plot stuff:

-Connor's presidential bid takes off just enough to actually leech votes off of dumb right wingers, accidentally guaranteeing Gil's victory
-with all the Star Wars references in season 1 and Ken basically having become Darth Vader, I hope there's a real Return of the Jedi "do I let Logan do this or throw him down the shaft?" moment

He didn't, but he did delay their leaving the safe room by having another sweep of the 3rd floor when he realized that things were going well and couldn't be interrupted.

Logan's interactions with Kendall are drawing a little bit of (something vaguely resembling) humanity out of him too. With them putting the glass up on the rooftop it's obvious that someone has noticed how hard Ken is spiraling, and Logan has been treating him with kid gloves since the start of this season. It seemed like Logan was genuinely worried when Ken couldn't be found during the lockdown too. It's the kindest we've seen him treating any of his children so far.

I think it's a little ambiguous over if the rooftop glass barrier is to avert any repeat of the ATN office suicide for publicity's sake or whether it's installed specifically for Kendall, which seems fitting because Logan is totally incapable of separating genuine concern for his children apart from posturing for his business interests. I really liked the scene last season where he's running down the possible excuses to snub Shiv's wedding with his PR lady and actually verges on self-critique when he realises there's nothing to put out that doesn't make him look like a sack of poo poo.

sticklefifer

I definitely think it was installed just for Kendall. They've most certainly seem him going up there and looking over, and his people know about the shoplifting. Also, of course, Logan knows about the guilt Kendall has over the guy's death they covered up.

Yeah, it's interesting looking back at the safe room meeting, and how they kept brushing off Shiv's suggestions so Kendall could work his way in. Shiv took it personally, but then Ken's "I'm not the guy" speech shows that Logan was just trying to give him something to make him feel useful.

No doubt Logan's got some demons himself with all those scars on his back his uncle gave him as a kid, he may well relate more to kendall now than he ever has to any of his children.

I definitely had the thought that Kendall was suicidal at the beginning of the season, so it's a nice way to allude that his dad also thought of that possibility. It's an interesting thought that Logan is stripping Kendall down to rebuild him to be the next Logan. This show is more clever and subtle than it appears on its surface.
