I understand it can be frustrating at times to have to work around a dietary restriction, but when you have internet access it's not impossible to research an alternative be it a substitute ingredient or a different recipe altogether. When I was picked to bring the dessert to a gathering where one person had a tree nut allergy and another had a peanut allergy, my solution was to just make something with no nuts. Do I know if they were faking an allergy or not, no and I can't in good conscience take that risk. Even if it's just a 'I don't like X', no biggie, I'll just not use X or find a work around. It's not about the food. It's about power. It's about being right. It's about the sheer narcissistic joy of owning a persons life.

If I were a better man, I could only hope to face an end as noble. you can still help the fight in other ways. here are some suggestions based on my own experience and that of people I've worked with: if you have spare money: donate to the international antifa defense fund or another group doing on-the-ground work if you have spare time: join a rapid response network (people that mobilize to take action and/or share alerts when there's an ICE raid) if you can talk to people: find people who feel similarly to you, get to know them, have each other's backs if you have skills: find a group that can use them - maybe you know how to use signal, draw eye-catching posters, stop bleeding, make a spreadsheet, or make cheap nutritious meals? you could help a group be more secure, make flyers, serve as a medic, keep track of supplies, or feed them! if you know someone who works for ICE: shame them into quitting we need people in the fight, but not everyone in the fight needs to be punching nazis or blockading ICE offices or yelling "up yours, police!". feel free to PM me if you want to chat more about this. that offer is open to anyone in this thread who wants to get involved but doesn't know where to start. 💜

33 bodies recovered in California boat fire search as investigation intensifies https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2019-09-04/california-boat-fire-bodies-recovered-fbi-ntsb-investigation quote:Thirty-nine people were on board for a three-day scuba diving trip when the fire broke out. Five crew members jumped overboard and paddled to a nearby vessel. They survived. The passengers and a sixth crew member were asleep below deck and were likely trapped by the flames, officials said. I know someone who had gone diving on that boat several times. They posted these pictures on Facebook. They've circled in red what they believe to be the escape hatch mentioned in the article. That'd be difficult to find and get through even in the best of circumstances. The person I know who dived on that boat is my aunt whose friend was murdered. The deceased's husband was just found guilty in that murder. My aunt is becoming extremely tragedy-adjacent.

The divers you can see how something can be done to improve their odds of getting out but the Fitzgerald guys were just hosed.

For a long time, the sandwich wasn't considered proper British food, as it wasn't boiled into a flavorless mush, and there was concern that introducing flavor to British cuisine might cause an uprising of the lower classes.
