OK, this is probably the better thread for this, leaving it be here unless someone else thinks it needs another thread or location or whatever: Not really sure where to put this but here’s another sports physician molesting hundreds of students while the admins closed their ears and looked the other way. Took him literally jacking off a student during an exam to get things changed, and even then, well: quote:Citing the three student complaints that occured within roughly a year’s time, Ohio State removed Strauss as an on-campus doctor that year. But he was allowed to keep his status as a tenured professor.

OSU's doing a whole lot of buck-passing right now on who knew what. Most if not all of the other OSU employees who were around when Strauss was doing this are either dead or long since retired.

Nassar's former boss William Strampel was sentenced to up to a year in jail for willfully neglecting his duty to monitor Nassar and sexually harassing students himself. In an incredibly cringeworthy statement, his lawyer argued for probation due to his "lifetime of public service."

MSU is being fined $4.5m.

It's an absurdly small fine, but I can't imagine that any amount of money put into Betsy Devos' hands is going to wind up anywhere good.

It's less about the overall fine amount and more about how many violations they had under the Cleary Actquote:The Clery Act requires all colleges and universities that participate in federal financial aid programs to keep and disclose information about crime on and near their respective campuses. Compliance is monitored by the United States Department of Education, which can impose civil penalties, up to $54,789 per violation, against institutions for each infraction and can suspend institutions from participating in federal student financial aid programs.

The fine is pretty much a drop in the bucket next to the victim settlements
