It's not just the weird procgen spiderman joker elsa birthday pregnant shopping videos, it's how they're monetized and making money. TL;DW: YouTube was selling ads on these vids which have immense view counts and telling advertisers they were being watched, when a 2 year old neither can retain advertising messaging nor make purchasing decisions. This is all a huge CYA/cover-up in general because otherwise the ad-buy grift finally completely implodes and CPC values drop another order of magnitude.

if google actually does deploy some sorta machine vision recognition of characters etc, vs just like matching hashes for audio copyright strikes or common filez studios submitted for takedown, it’s really gonna open google up more to the question of “so why can’t you do more about removing hate crimes guide video xyz by detecting swastikas (or at least move the videos into a moderation queue)?”

letting your cats outside around here mostly ends up feeding the cougars more than it impacts the robin and alligator lizard population. pretty much everything else around here is too wiley for a housecat to catch
