heh, pat backed out of the direct/banjo rundown right before the sans reveal. and then paige calls him and starts yelling at him because I guess they made a bet about sans getting into smash before doomguy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sU4sAPPsiak&hd=1 but it's adorable, when DP2 shows up his jaw just loving drops in abject disbelief

holy poo poo this omega-level pettiness on display from both pat and paige about the details of the bet on whether sans or doomguy would get in smash first is amazing, this is delicious also people trolling him with timestamps to when they "discuss that being a mii doesn't count" but it's just parts of the stream where Elmo does stuff, this is so good

Rewatched the Deadly Premonition LP to refresh my memory and man I forgot how drat wierd that game got. Also at the end of the Director's Cut version which they played, there's actually a hint at the sequel where York says there's something happening in New Orleans, so Swery had an idea even back then of what he wanted to do with it I guess.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMQv_umlFXk It's not what I thought, it's him going through the game (pre recorded) with it being heavily edited (first part he condenses it to 30 minutes which was basically the first 2 hours of the game) and providing commentary on why the game is just.. boring and parts of the game that just doesn't work. man I guess that edgelords series died a whimpery fart of a death huh, I liked the first few episodes and...that's all he ever made lol It always looked to be a ridiculous amount of editing work for sub-100k views like many of his videos get and indeed he seems to have thought the same. Though maybe it could be a patreon thing instead since that's more direct than view count stuff.

To be fair if you're actually doing that kind of voice (as in, not getting the effect thru post-processing) and not trained in voicework, it can gently caress your vocal cords up real bad real quick (hell, even if you are trained. Frank Welker's old G1 Megatron voice really did a number on him over the years.)

Listening to this week's podcast is giving me a weird memory of a tweet by Liam, which made me remember this as well. Pat and Woolie are talking about how the most important thing of the FGC is that people feel angry and salty, that people want to quit, that people want to be violent and commit crime... and going on about how thuggery is the most amazing thing and necessary and the FGC will forever have this and needs this. I remember back when there was that shooting at the mall for the NFL or NBA game (which was it?). Liam made some super upset post about "figure your poo poo out America" and "games are supposed to be our safe places, a haven where we feel accepted and happy and comfortable even if everything else is horrible in life!" Back when he made that post.... all I could think of was Pat and Woolie popping off about any kind of thuggery possible happening at FGC stuff. I think it was not long after some guy took his shirt off and was ready to fight on live TV and got escorted away?

The guy you're talking about walked on stage after Chris G won marvel 3 that year and challenge him in Marvel 3 and was escorted away It was not known why he had no shirt or did that but it was thuggery of the most inoffensive level

The FGC has issues and quite a few of them are pertaining to the culture - such as misogyny and machismo - but "thuggery" doesn't really refer to being violent and it's kinda a...problematic reading of what is a subculture heavily influenced by urban African-American culture. The term itself is weird but it did come from the black members of the community so I'm not touching it. People are loud, full of bravado and crazy poo poo happens, but actual violence is heavily frowned upon. You talk poo poo, people talk poo poo back, whoever wins gets bragging rights, whoever loses gets to hold that L. Now, there are problematic aspects about that kinda thing, it is very much a macho posturing thing and all, and it eventually leads to physical altercations (hi Noel Brown) which the community has to deal with, but it doesn't lead to mass shootings because that poo poo's got a different motivation behind it. edit: actually if I'm not mistaken the whole "thuggery" meme came because of Capcom. Not a ninja edit, but I just remembered that and looked it up: https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/691087-playstation-4/73773349 "various forms of thuggery" is what got people and that's not referring to anything other than popoffs and being loud, so the community embraced that poo poo especially because it is a itsy-bitty...racist.
