It is weird how many comedies from the 90s just straight up poo poo all over hippie culture every chance they get. I always attributed it to Mike Judge/Matt Stone/Trey Parker being in the punk scene in their youth, and back then punks really hated hippies. ninja edit : I just remembered there's even an episode of Daria where the parents old hippy friends come over and come to the realization that being a hippy is dumb. Mike Judge didn't even have anything to do with that show.

making GBS threads on hippies is hilarious because of how harmless they are. No real reason to hate them, that's what makes it funny.

It has a great Bobby-Hank exchange: Hank: I used to to lots of demonstrations when I was your age Bobby. Bobby: Really Dad? You went to demonstrations? Hank: Yeah, Cotton used to take me. He loved watching the police beat up the protestors.

I always appreciate the call backs in this show. Like in Life In The Fast Lane, Bobby's Saga, Hank tells Bobby to get ahead he needs to find a job no one else wants to do and then do it. Then eight seasons later in Business Is Picking Up, Bobby is doing that in a way Hank doesn't approve of. I guess a fun coincidence is Jimmy Wichard is in both episodes.
