The heaviest pumpkin in 2016 was 2624 pounds. But it was ugly and it isn't like you're going to just carve off a chunk and start chewing.
If you aren't a huge chonker a giant watermelon might be a better choice. The record is 350 pounds. Like the tiny birb you could just sit next to a watermelon and start eating.

Sadly I couldn't find an pictures of birds posing with humorously oversize vegetables, so here's a crow in a PET scanner.

Well, there was a much larger bird once.

quote:

At one time, wingspans have been published for the species up to 7.5 to 8 m (24 ft 7 in to 26 ft 3 in) but more recent estimates put the wingspan more likely in the range of 5.09 to 6.5 m (16 ft 8 in to 21 ft 4 in).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentavis

but as for why birds generally don't get that big, there are two theories, from quick googling.

1) There's been no pressure to be that big and still fly

or

2) They replace flight feathers too slowly for wings that big.

there was another, possibly larger bird, but it was a different clade(the fowl). (Argentavis groups with the birds of prey)

There has to be an evolutionary pressure to get that big. Birds have never been apex predators that have needed to pick up an elephant and fly it back to their nest. They've gotten as big as they've needed to to fit their ecological niche.

The flightless bird Dromornis used to get as big as 1430 pounds and was around as recently as 30,000 years ago.
