It feels like a shooting of the foot. Watson is bad and I was happy for him to be told to feck off but this is a bit of a clown shoe. Like the last thing labour needs at the moment is to look like its arse doesn't know its elbow

I'm struggling to parse wtf this tweet is trying to say but either way it seems like an overreaction? How does Watson staying or not really have any significant effect on our chances at a GE? e/ like yeah he's an unhelpful dick and committed wrecker, but this specific story around the drama of booting him or not in this particular moment? Doesn't seem like it'll have any legs at all. Compared to all the other drama he's caused/been associated with, it's a footnote. Basically just that Labour looks like it's infighting, but honestly I don't think people care that much. Also I am about to attend my first reading group at TWT and have so far had five (5) papers try to be sold to me.

If they undermine Labour during the GE it's helpful to them to have already blamed the left for the outcome

What rubbish news to wake up to. Shelving the plan to oust Watson pleases NOBODY, and just encourages him to carry on being a wrecker while making the leadership look incompetent. Watson now has an entire loving speech on Tuesday with which to attack the party. It's complete idiocy and will royally piss off Corbyn's supporters who finally sensed we could be getting rid of him.

Corbyn needs to stop leaving these NEC meetings halfway through. This whole gently caress up and the £20 leadership election fee coup would not have been an issue if he was the first one in and last one out.

I love my clown shoe socialist party. Like genuinely I believe in where Corbyn is trying to take us, but I have a hard time with all these dumbass moments. Missteps and blunders that make the party look worse. Like if there was a viable alternative to labour that had the same views as corbyn but wasnt as clown shoe I would instantly jump ship. But we have to work with what we've got dont we?

I think it largely depends on what this compromise motion turns out to be (do we know that yet?) Threatening it and then not doing it would be dumb, but threatening a nuclear option and then getting the right wingers to actively agree to be bombed to ashes using conventional warfare would be a power play (can't kick up a fuss over something that you've willingly agreed to). I'd be well chuffed with Lansman's thing in case Corbyn gets sick or w/e plus implementing a mechanism for the membership/NEC to oust the Deputy if, hypothetically, they were, say, actively briefing against the party on a constant loving basis

Did Thornberry seriously liken the Lib Dems to the Taliban? What the gently caress is wrong with labour this morning? It’s also sad and pathetic to see the media have this much influence over polling numbers. The antisemitism distrust has obviously worked to some degree.
