Speaking with Interview Magazine, Hilmarsdóttir explained the song's meaning: "How we usually make our lyrics is, Raggi and I, sometimes we come up with stories or situations. That one is about a relationship. Sometimes we haven't wanted to give too much away. We like people to read their own things in the lyrics. I guess I could share it. It's about a couple and the husband passed away and it's from the conversation between the two of them. We don't know if she's going crazy or if someone's actually there. We've kind of been inspired by people that lived in my house. This old couple that lived there for 30 years. The woman passed away, so it was kind of different."

The excellent "Make me smile (come up and see me)" is a wonderful jolly, cheerful tune and I've often seen it used in adverts as such, but it's all about a bad band breakup and the lyrics are deeply bitter and scathing.

Yes: Climate crisis is going to kill us all, but there's nothing you can do to stop it so just try to enjoy the time you have left.

It's a cool place and they say it gets colder
You're bundled up now wait 'til you get older
But the meteor men beg to differ
Judging by the hole in the satellite picture

The ice we skate is getting pretty thin
The water's getting warm so you might as well swim
My world's on fire. How about yours?
That's the way I like it and I'll never get bored

And me I understand this totally, why that song Hallelujah, that Leonard Cohen did was heavily used as wedding fodder and subsequently forgotten.

Going to me ex's twelve step meeting was my first introducement to the fact that a master of the craft had taken dirty filthy money from whoever made Shrek

I got this title for the dumbest fucking possible take on sea shanties. Specifically, I derailed the meme thread because sailors in the 18th century weren't woke enough for me, and you shouldn't sing sea shanties. In fact, don't have any fun ever.
When I read "Shrek song that people might get married to" I thought of "I'm A Believer." Why the hell would anyone play a somber-rear end song like "Hallelujah" at a wedding?
