Tashilicious posted:Isn't just voting literally the least effort you can do that brings about the least change? Sure, voting is important in a properly open society but doing nothing else except voting every four years is ineffectual to do anything for meaningful change. It should be "Vote, and also organise and make community activism a thing" yeah it's the essentially-nothing people who do nothing can get all huffy and self-righteous about. Also if you actually organize in your community you know it's excruciatingly slow and dull and it takes years of work to start to see results for even the smallest thing like "I want a park that doesn't give kids tetanus", let alone anything bigger where you're being fought every step of the way by people with immeasurably more resources than you. Small wonder people barely getting through the day often don't have the energy to go at it fulltime (it's because the stupid proles are content with their lot in life like the cattle they are, and everything they do is about upsetting you personally)

normal people are not energized by the sort of "pro-business" poo poo the democrats preach. most people do not entertain the idea of being a small business owner, which takes a certain kind of psychopathy to accomplish. most people are resigned to being a powerless cog in a machine, and they don't want to hear about how you're going to make the machine prettier or faster or whatever. people do love it when bernie sanders calls out the waltons and jeff bezos etc because everybody hates rich people

the US oligarchy has been explicitly clear since the end of WW2 that they are able and willing to exterminate the entire human race rather than loose their hold over it, and whether they themselves survive the apocalypse is more or less a secondary consideration.

like most of the ones churning all these pieces out literally have a stable of people they contact for quotes that are all affluent, conservative retirees any time one of them veers into actual voters the people running it end up having an existential crisis as they realize nobody in the real world thinks the insider politics worldview is smart or correct, that Third Way safari ended up being like this and they still ran a report on it that said all the stuff they agreed, like finding the 3 people who said they want to see charter schools expanded and how regulations are killing the markets. No space at all was given to the overwhelming majority of people who said stuff like how they don't want to come together and they think the Republicans and the rich are out to destroy the world and the Dems are merrily cashing checks for rubberstamps
