I've been really trying to get good with the Hornet lately and now that I've got the hang of it, I'm really enjoying it. I'm having a problem with the radar though and I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. On the Hoggit Training Server, there's a respawning flight Aviajet C101's that circle around as A2A drones. I can't, for the life of me, get the Hornet's radar to lock on them. I slew my designator to bracket the radar contact and hit the TDC depress key. The radar azimuth indicator jumps to the designator, wiggles back and forth between the designator brackets for 3-4 seconds, then returns to its regular sweep. This happens at any range. I can get a successful lock in boresight mode on a target that I can't lock by slewing and pressing the TDC designator, so I know I'm within the radar's operational limits. But, not being able to get a lock in anything but boresight mode makes shooting sparrows or amraams nearly impossible. What am I doing wrong?

There's a semi-persistent bug where using any bound button to invoke TDC down does nothing, whereas pressing Enter (which is ostensibly the same bind) works as intended. If your FCS is on the right MFD, you can use sensor select right instead… unless they changed that.

It sounds like it's trying to go into ltws the first time which is the default mode the hornet spawns in with a hot start. If you go to the radar data page you can turn off ltws then it should stt lock with a single press of designate. Ltws is unreliable as poo poo unless you lower your scan to like 1 bar and less that full width.

Argh, need more free time. Currently working my way through the Huey campaign..Mission 4 is a medivac. Get to the pick-up quickly, get diverted and the 'captain' goes "I'll handle the controls while you set the ADF" and then goes "I have control" and appears to be flying. I go head down, start setting the ADF, until I hear the RPM warning , look up and we're going vertically into the ground. The campaign is good for forcing you to fly 'properly', but it's also buggy as hell.

Did they ever deploy that 40% FPS increase in VR? I haven't played in a while, and I had to send my stick bracket back to the fabricator because they forgot to powder coat it  .

However nobody got the sort of perfomance gains they got internally. Some people had a moderate improvement for some people it actually got worse. They asked people to submit their performance and at that point they decided it was hard and stopped talking about it.
