Instead its blowing the gently caress up in his face. Somewhere in the back of his mind, he's got to know that the next time there is a Dem president, there will probably be hell to pay.

This is objectively untrue, Trump was coherent and basically just a normal racist dumbass as recently as the late '90s/early 2000s, it's extremely night and day obvious if you compare a clip of him from 1999 and 2009 that he went senile sometime in the late 2000s.

He was also susceptible to FOX destroying his brain like almost all formerly apolitical old people are. The only cure for old people (who have not been inoculated by being a lifetime politically active Dem) is to have never watched FOX in the first place. Many people under 40 and almost all people under 30 are mostly immune, but for the olds it is a politically terminal disease.

Back when he wasn't senile, he was too busy ripping off contractors and building casinos that somehow didn't make money to watch much cable news. It was only after he decided maybe he could get political while also simultaneously realising his only shot was the GOP that he decided to watch FOX News, and and then he coincidentally went senile and got brainworms at the same time.

To play Trump they should get a non-actor. Just do open casting calls. Someone who resembles him, has never acted, and maybe can't even remember his lines. And throw them into a movie with A list actors in a major movie. It might be cruel, but it'd be accurate.

I don’t know that there’s any way to produce a trump presidency biopic that isn’t inherently a comedy.

Not saying that the things his administration is doing are funny, because they’re reprehensible. But in order to accurately portray Trump you need an actor to play someone so woefully incompetent, so idiotic, that future generations will be unable to distinguish it from satire.

I mean I dunno, I just don't agree. I think it's a subjective thing, but in this interview what I see is "a guy who is an idiot but who is coherently stupid," basically the average uninformed culturally conservative person being asked to provide political opinions. Compared to the complete ridiculous bullshit he says now - clearly attempting to convey ideas but unable to string together coherent thought or avoid bringing up extraneous bullshit all the time - this is significantly less bad to me, which makes it merely profoundly irritating instead of insufferable.

The best idea I've read is that you just don't bother to depict Trump at all because no portrayal will ever live up to the real thing. You cast everyone else with professional actors playing Jared, Ivanka, Bannon, etc. but Trump is always offscreen and never heard and everyone else is just flailing around in the shitstorm in response to him.

The thing I don't like about that idea is it gives him a God like image in the movie. The one who can never be seen. It makes him more mysterious and important than he should be. We need to see him with the toilet paper on his show going on AF1 and being booed in front of the UN. And all his weirdness. Making him the mysterious man in the Oval Office gives him too much credit, IMO.

But we don't have free trade right now, because if you want to go to Japan, or if you want to go to Saudi Arabia or various other countries, it's virtually impossible for an American to do business in those countries. Virtually impossible. Now I have many friends, they go over to Japan, they can't open up anything. They need approvals, they need this, that. In the mean time, Japan comes over to this country, they're buying up Wall Street, they're buying up all of Manhattan's real estate, they're buying -- which is fine as far as I'm concerned because they're paying premium prices that put people like myself in a very good position -- if I ever want to sell something. So, the fact is that you don't have free trade. We think of it as free trade but you right now don't have free trade. And I support anything having to do with Canada because I think they've been one hell of a good ally.

1: Trump was essentially a angry demented toddler during the debates and he still won the goddamn thing and

That's what's funny about Trump being senile; he was always racist, but the Donald Trump of 2000 was smart enough to disavow David Duke, while the Donald Trump of today can't be bothered. I think you're overlooking one major thing when doing the Trump:Reagan functional Alzheimer's comparison.

Reagan was a Hollywood-level actor before he got into politics. Playing a role and speaking to an audience/camera was second nature and literally his job for a good chunk of his adult life.

Trump was a coddled real estate developer/"tycoon". It's a different job with different expectations (not that Trump did any of those expectations). Mainly all Trump had to do was boss people around and be confident. He could be a verbal klutz as long as he had the illusion of wealth to support his lifestyle and lie that he was a super genius.

Remember, "my handler says I can't talk anymore."

Reagan's image was heavily scrutinized and highly, highly curated by those around him. Nancy was shown to prompt him several times, and cronies like Meese and Speakes made sure he kept in line. And as an actor, it was second nature to take a mark and read a script.

Trump has been, from step one, told that he is meant, destined to be a great man. One that people defer to, and seek favor from. From his upbringing to his father's favor to his multiple failures to his time as a mid-tier tv personality. "You are The Boss. We wait on your word."

Now he is being scrutinized and it is all falling apart because he can't take it. He keeps feeding on public opinion but even that is shrinking so he keeps getting more and more slushbrained chasing that high.
