I don't normally get a flu shot and I'm thinking about it this year. But I just imagine my evil health insurance going "oh they didn't provide a generic flushot from this manufacturer so it'll be $$$" Because they've done something like that to me already this year

Patriarchal leaders whose continued authority was basically purely by consensus and whose power was often just dispute resolution, but it wouldn't look completely structureless to modern eyes.

And even if they don't cover it they're like, $30 if you get em' at wallgreens I never used to get them but now that I'm visiting my doctor regularly (for the medication bullshit I've whined about in the thread before) I get them every year, mostly because he basically forces them on me

I recall that the RCTs of the flu jab arnt exactly amazing either, something like the primary outcome measure being that you have 3 days of flu symptoms vs 5 days of flu unless you’re medically vulnerable (young, chronic disease etc) the flu jab isn’t imperative

Flu is aerosol spread, so won't a dentists mask do a pretty good job of stopping you breathing it in? That and not touching your face like some gross face-touching weirdo.

Jel Shaker posted:I recall that the RCTs of the flu jab arnt exactly amazing either, something like the primary outcome measure being that you have 3 days of flu symptoms vs 5 days of flu It makes the flu less severe in both duration and symptoms, which is important because the flu is nasty and can leave even a healthy adult feeling like garbage for 10-14 days after the acute phase. Anyone who has had the flu is going to see a big difference between a couple days of a milder version of flu vs being knocked on their rear end for a couple of weeks. Getting flu shots isn't just for your own benefit but also to reduce the spread of infection among the population. The more people who get it, the better. Strom Cuzewon posted:Flu is aerosol spread, so won't a dentists mask do a pretty good job of stopping you breathing it in? That and not touching your face like some gross face-touching weirdo. It can also spread through contact with your eyes as your nasolacrimal duct connects your eye to your nasal passages. People are all gross face-touching weirdos. Influenza viruses only tend to live for about 5-10 minutes on skin, but they can survive 24 hours on hard plastic or metal surfaces (like doorknobs, light switches, office equipment, sink taps, other things that lots of people will touch regularly ) so the best thing you can do is wash your hands regularly.

Why is it that the vast majority of public bathrooms in the US have a handle you have to pull in order to leave, instead of being able to push it open?

The real question is why more places don't have the doorless bathroom designs. They have automatic flushing toilets, automatic faucets, automatic soap dispensers, automatic paper towel dispensers and/or auto hand dryers. But then you have to touch the door to leave
