Asia/Oceania always gets announced later. It has to do with logistics, I'm sure she'll announce a run of shows around that area of the globe. It's just hauling the equipment, etc. is more money, time, etc. to there than the rest of the world.

She's probably playing arenas, I think like Charli she'd be great to see in mid-size club. Was she even touring when Ocean Eyes and all that were big? I wish I could have seen her then.

My top pretentious "saw them before they were big" show was Charli in like 2013 at a venue that held 300 people. It was BUMPIN

I'm sure it's just me but listening to that Kelly Clarkson cover of Til The World Ends makes me miss the trance-y EDM pop craze from 6-8 years ago. That was probably the era of pop music that felt most in tune with my own personal tastes.

How is there NO posts about the new Kim Petras album? It's so loving good. (To be fair, I literally didnt know ANY of her music, but this album is awesome)

Yeah but it's mired with Kesha stans because it's Dr. Luke. I agree it's a great album (except for the Carol of Bells bit I hate in Massacre). I feel Kim spent a lot of her writing on Clarity so the production covered most of this. Not to say Kim didn't deliver though, it's a great record and I've been a fan of nearly everything she's put out but she's always going to have that group of people on her about Dr. Luke.

I really like Kim Petras, Clarity is my pop album of the year, its roll out was great and unexpected for a debut. I like the quick turnaround of a really great product like this. My only letdown is the idea she initially lead on she was going to do an EP every October, so this is a way to cop out of it by releasing it as a cohesive collection means no Vol. 3.

Other notable rankings: (asterisks indicate the artist having other songs further down the list)

#2: Grimes - "Oblivion"
#3: Robyn* - "Dancing on My Own
#4: Beyonce* - "Formation"
#9: Lana Del Rey* - "Video Games"
#12: Sky Ferreira - "Everything is Embarrassing"
#15: Rhianna* - "Work" (feat. Drake)
#16: The 1975* - "Love It If We Made It"
#21: Drake* - "Hold On We're Going Home" (feat. Majid Jordan)
#27: M.I.A. - "Bad Girls"
35 spaces too low: Carly Rae Jepsen - "Run Away With Me"
#43: Lorde* - "The Louvre"
#48. Ariana Grande - "thank u, next"
#54. Disclosure - "Latch" (feat. Sam Smith)
#57. Taylor Swift - "All Too Well"
#67. Kacey Musgraves - "Slow Burn"
#71. Adele* - "Someone Like You"
#74. Jack U - "Where Are U Now" (feat. Justin Bieber*)
#80. Blood Orange - "You're Not Good Enough)
#85. Charli XCX* - "Track 10"
#91. Haim - "The Wire"
#102. Katy Perry - "Teenage Dream"
#112. Paramore - "Ain't It Fun"
#114. Daft Punk - "Get Lucky" (feat. Pharell)
#147. Ella Mai - "Boo'd Up"
#152. Miley Cyrus - "Wrecking Ball"
#159. Katy B - "Katy on a Mission"
#174. Florence and the Machine - "Shake It Out"
#197. Icona Pop - "I Love It" (feat. Charli XCX)
#200. Avicii - "Levels"

honestly a bunch of these don't even have the artist's best song (Sky, Taylor, Ari, Lana, Rhianna, Bey, Miley) and not a single Gaga song is a shame, especially considering they basically spoiled that Fame Monster is gonna be on their top album list in their editor's note.

Why do people continue to read Pitchfork? Especially after it got sold and changed format, it's sucked even more. It's catering to hip hop and pop that many other blogs do much better only hurt indie rock which they selectively cover more than hip hop these days. I get it's the change of the times but Pitchfork used to have a good niche but now tries to be everything with authority and it's a mess.

Pitchfork is probably the #1 respectable pop music media in the world now that most of the print mags have basically died and what's left is three quarters ads. I don't read it, but its authority and esteem seem pretty obvious at this point

It's a piece of JUNK!
I used to hate Pitchfork, but now, on average I find their reviews more insightful than other publications. That really isn't saying much at all, but if you're gonna read anything, they're a pretty good choice. The only reason I don't read them more is that they rarely cover music I'm interested in. But I have a feeling that's more on me.

I agree their reviews are pretty insightful and I like reading them but they have a very weird bias towards certain sounds and some of the omissions and placement for these lists really emphasizes that.

Like Rihanna Anti and Solanges album being ranked super loving high but no Dirty Computer? No 21? No Born This Way? Not even ON the list? The Fame Monster being outranked by Sweetener?

No. Just no. Ariana is cute and she makes good music but come on.

is it really not on there? like i understand CRJ's fandom but that song defined a year and unless she can win over the US, that's probably going to be her biggest hit and in the general populace she ticks the boxes for being a one-hit wonder, event though she's ubiquitious in the pop world and had minor hits after that (so did most one-hitters).

Maybe she'll pull a Kylie and a huge hit in the US but 20 years later after her first one.

i just google the writer if i don't know them (the p4k name generator needs to happen born out of a phiz thread of all the goofyass names) i wrote music and concert reviews and everyone was a self-righteous failed musician or a weasle with an agenda to sneak in and couldn't really care less about the music; can't imagine how it must be at somewhere like pitchfork. utter contempt for the occupation

Taylor Swift did a Tiny Desk concert. I really like acoustic Taylor, and even if she's not playing all my favorites she's such a captivating performer.

edit: the story she tells about writing Death by A Thousand Cuts makes me want her to do an album with like, Ben Folds or John Darnielle or Sufjan Stevens, someone who's really good at writing character songs. I think if she got good at those she'd pretty much have enough material for five lifetimes.
