As early as I can remember (early 80's) we had at least 25 channels to choose from, all the way down to Channel 2. That was basic cable in Vancouver.

This forum has neither numbers or letters for me to describe my old TV channels setup. At least two channels turned the telly into a live chicken. One was in Spanish and the other was in Chinese. I didn't speak either language, so can't tell you if their programming was any good.

At first I read "tuned" as "turned" and thought you were going in a completely different direction with this. There's some alternate dimension where tvs are chickens sometimes.

In the early days we could only pick up The Norwegian Broacsting Corporations one channel plus the two Swedish equivalents. Yes, the programming was about as interesting as you might think. Luckily in the mid 80s we did get other options including British Sky Channel that gave me access to Transformers and He-Man plus WWF. Lucky!

A public broadcasting station here in Melbourne Australia used to have 'fishcam' instead of a test pattern when they weren't running shows and it became their best known and most beloved show to the point where they became known as "the fish channel". At the time he was on hiatus and the police had a habit of periodically just going into porn theaters and arresting a bunch of people/everybody there for public exposure. It was an easy case to win often as the police could just say "yup, jerkin it in a porn theater, we all saw it." Reubens made a point of keeping a squeaky clean image for all the Pee Wee stuff. I think the charges were never even filed in the first place but because there was a mug shot, he was in a porn theater, and was scruffy as hell the media just obliterated his reputation as that sort of thing gets ratings. He 100% didn't deserve it.
