it would be incredibly amusing if the Queen shitcanned Boris and reminded her subjects what their form of government actually is

Queen tries to dump Boris, Boris responds by becoming a republican and moving to abolish the monarchy. Corbyn goes full mask off and leads a popular militia to storm Westminster and establish the dictatorship of the proletariat.

Britain gets its own October Revolution.

I mean you can call it undemocratic but considering that there isn't a thinking person in Britain who actually wants Johnson as PM I'd say it all evens out.

It is the new welfare system that has been achingly slowly (for better or worse) spread across the UK since the Tories took office

- For people who are really shite at budgeting but aren't disabled enough to have someone else in charge of their money, like addicts or care leavers, just being given hundreds of pounds once a month is not actually good for them, and they have to specifically ask for the housing element of their money to be paid directly to their landlord. This is up to some guy/gal in a 'delivery centre' who has never met them to decide whether it happens or not. They used to very seldom do this, it's a bit more frequent nowadays.

So, uh, I genuinely cannot believe anyone is complaining the aid is not patronizing enough. What the gently caress? Do people actually argue this?

All my political life I've heard cash is both superior and more respectful than food/housing vouchers and the like. I tend to agree! the idea is that, instead of giving one big lump payment, the cash is staggered through a payment period

also housing benefit means that the landlord is negotiating with a much bigger entity rather than directly with some poor and desperate individual, and have (in theory) less ability to squeeze the tenant completely dry. conversely, it also means that landlords can take on poorer tenants without too much risk of not getting paid.

landlords should have their property collectivised and their heads removed, but there was a reason that this sort of arrangement existed, unlike e.g food stamps where the only point is humiliating the recipient

Yeah, it's not like some people get in abusive relationships or addictions or maybe just occasionally would like to maybe treat their kids a little to relieve the relentless crushing grind of their lives and well, you know what, just go get hosed you supercilious oval office.
