Yeah just wait on the new stuff imo. You could scoop up some metals for cheap online to pad out troops if you like but for anything beyond that I'd wait.

There are the new Sister Superior and Cannoness Veridyan models available for order right now. You also might be able to find the plastic cannoness that was given out at adepticon on the secondary market for a bunch of money.

You could get some of the Blackstone minis going for an Inquisitorial warband, if that's your style. While there's a new Rhino kit coming for sisters, there's nothing wrong with the current one.

You have lots of options!

Has anyone seen the new Chaos Marines with any parts from the Forgeworld 40k World Eaters set? The FW pieces are a tad old but the helmets are still pretty fuckin cool.

I didn't save any pictures but yes, I saw that on Facebook a while ago. They go well together and it looks good and makes an impressive Khorne Berzerker, although there was a moderately detectable variance in texture between the very smooth plastic bits and the somewhat rougher resin bits, visible under the paint job.

Some of the human Khorne models from Sigmar seem like they'd be a great basis for a conversion, do people do that for their 40k armies? Like blood warriors as the basis for berserkers.

Yeah you can use bits of them or you can just use them as themed up cultists.

My old Khorne army had berzerkers made from blood warriors, with their left arms replaced with megaman style cannons to represent their pistols. I had a Lord of Skulls too so when they were grouped up it looked like a bunch of baby Skulls flocking around their giant tracked father.

If you're aiming to go for a sisters in transports type list it might be worth buying immolators now because the new ones are going to be at least 10 quid more expensive than the current webstore price. Also then you get the OG plastic sister that no-one ever mentions, the turret gunner.

Yes, but the shoulderpads won't work, it takes some fussing to get the backpacks on, and the poses are a bit static.

I think that Adepitcon Canoness is hinted/confirmed to be in the army box in November, which makes the $100 secondary market price super not worth it.

Also the pro move is to buy your army now while you can still find them, possibly thousands of dollars is a really low bar for entry for classic Jes Goodwin right? :shepspends:

So, someone pointed out a fairly useless, but amusingy ridiculous move you can technically pull.

The mekboy workshop doesn't become a terrain piece until after it's setup on the battlefield. Technically, you can hold it in reserves and then toss it deep on the board with the tellyporta strategem. Now, this still requires you to actualy pay points for the mekboy workshop, so I can't imagine too many people actually trying it, but it amuses me on a deep and orky level that it's possible.

I counted them. If you're calling it a nitpick, that is fair. It really is just sloppy name conventions from when Games Workshop created the Dark Angels. The Deathwing is a circle of the DA hierarchy. All members of the DA 1st company are members of the Deathwing. Not all members of the Deathwing circle are actually assigned to the 1st company. And the 1st company is also called the Deathwing.

(and can't post for 10 years!)

I have the Nurgle half of the Dark Imperium set plus 3 plague marines from the paint Nurgle set, it seems like I could make an ok kill team out of it even though I don't have access to all the goodies:

1 marine with a power fist and plasma gun
1 marine with a power fist
1 marine with a blight launcher
1 marine with a plasma gun
6 more marines
10 pox walkers

I figure make the top 4 guys leader, combat specialist, demolitions, and sniper and then round out with pox walkers and maybe 1 more marine depending on points per team and what my opponent is bringing to the table. Not ideal with no flails or spewers but still viable, I hope.

Interesting battle report with a dread heavy Iron Hand list vs Aeldari with trip Crimson Hunteers and lots of tanks.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yqVVYCjOhU&t=600s

Result: 29-9 in favor of the Iron Hands! :aaa: Of course one or two battle reports can hardly be called conclusive, especially with such a new Codex+Supplement, but that Eldar list was the kind of quick mover grab the objectives list that I expected to do well versus the IH, and they just got pasted. Mind you there were some hot dice for the Hands, and the objectives favored the Hands as well, but even so this was a really strong showing!

They ran a stream yesterday discussing the psychic awakening event and it sounds like its mostly going to take place during the opening of the rift and the 100 year indominus crusade, before the plague wars, and each book will take place simultaneously. Instead of being a huge event that answers lots of old lore questions like they originally pitched it as, this is more a multiyear rules refresh to bring everybody in line with the new space marine supplements and add a handful of new models per faction.

Im still all for that but I can't hide my deflated disappointment because I was getting really energized by all the possibilities the new lore was bringing so this reads to me like settling down back to holding pattern.

Also means the baal book totally will just be the blood angels vs hive fleets during the devastation, something there's already a whole book about. Boo!

JUST CAN'T SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT HOW MUCH I HATE GAMES WORKSHOP!
This is a good article. Countless times people lose t1 due to anti armor/snipers free for all shooting across open tables.

Some players may get miffed at los block terrain but its needed AND intended by the game.

Thank you for mentioning vertical terrain, its a big deal 90% of players forget or ignore because "muh los".

The more Los terrain the more movement and positioning become important which is where the game shines.

I was joking with a friend that without enough terrain you may as well leave the models at home and just roll off for the fun of initiative until you had your fill.

Question off of the back of that article - what should a player or club's terrain collection look like? I'm mostly an AoS player, but there's some principles that cross over and I'm interested in what people like to see and what's handy for table setups (especially considering some armies in AoS can bring terrain with unique effects along).

It's going to sound ridiculous after the debacle last year, but the current LGT set-up is super good for 40k. You could do a lot worse than just sending TT Combat £60 and getting one of these as a starting point: https://ttcombat.com/products/lgt-full-board-bundle?_pos=1&_sid=a952e309a&_ss=r

It's always neat to see a themed table with terrain that seems to belong together. I'm currently collecting pieces to use in a egyptian desert ruins theme for my table, including a FW Necron tomb citadel that I'll be converting into a ruined pyramid. It will also include a FW crashed Thunderhawk I got for free due to a mixup with their shipping department. I've been combing Amazon for egyptian statues and sculptures as well.

Multiple large LOS blocking objects like buildings that are at least 8x8" and multiple pieces of terrain with bases that are between 8x8" and 12x12" in size

Moving the setting on constantly just means they'll write themselves into a corner faster, and a hundred years across literally the entire galaxy is plenty of room to expand on things. Hell just from vigilus the latest point in the timeline is already like 300 years into m42.
