Remember: the big lesson to be learned is that you can never count on the US to stand by its allies of convenience. Sorry Kurds, maybe next time you’ll move quicker on building Trump Tower Rojava.

Also I wonder how that Turkish F-16 pilot who had Erdogan’s plane in his sights and didn’t fire during the 2016 coup attempt is feeling these days because I’m certainly not too happy with him.

Wasn’t there some giant purge of the military after that attempt? I suspect that pilot isn’t doing well.

There was a giant purge of Turkish society. Military, press, teachers, scientists, p much anyone that didn't toe the party line.

I don’t think this is really worth getting excited over. This will get tied up in courts and no one will see them before he gets out of office.

If you mean big Trump admin honchos, likely never. Accept that now and you'll have a better attitude about it when it doesn't happen. If Trump loses in 2020, whatever Democrat wins will likely yammer on about not looking into the past and looking forward to the future. It will be partially truthful and partially a play to make themselves look more "presidential" for media Hot Takes.

Democrats act different than Republicans when in power, it's just how it is. Start from a position of zero expectations and you'll be happier at the small victories you get.

He doesn’t have to comply with anything. The accounting firm has to comply. If they don’t, they risk losing licensure which would effectively make them stop existing as an accounting firm.

That said, somehow or another noncompliance will happen and nobody will give a poo poo.

Donnie did an expedited appeal already. The appeals court just granted a temporary stay (as the tax returns were due at 4pm) and there's apparently going to be an expedited appeals review.

I don't mind the tax thing getting delayed - just increases the chances that it becomes a mid-campaign issue.

Apparently trump green lighting the Turkish "expedition" into Syria has pissed off, and rightly so, the Kurds.

It also appears that he forgot to mention this to the UK and France, both of whom have SF troops embedded with the Kurds. Both countries not that happy about this.

I typed up a reply that was eaten by my lovely internet (it's comcastic) but the 75 page decision by the judge makes it really easy for the appellate court to affirm. He broke down every argument by the president and the alternatives even though his actual ruling is about 1/4 of the document.

Good a time as any to remind people that there's a reasonable chance Reagan tried to privately negotiate with the Iranians to delay the release of hostages to make Carter look bad.

IIRC the same people that sabotaged peace negotiations between north and south Vietnam to sandbag Johnson and get Nixon in office were involved in the fuckery with the Iran hostage return being delayed to get Reagan in office.
