US still has a base of operations, turks can kick out the kurds from their occupied territory without having to actually try and govern them, assad doesnt have to deal with a million kurdish refugees.

I don't think Turkey limiting their invasion of NE Syria to a "buffer" benefits Assad, but it certainly isn't the almost existential threat to the government that a Turkish conquest of the whole region would be.
