I’ve always been thoroughly impressed with Special Forces soldiers. They’re an impressive lot. They have a huge breadth of mission that require a loving impressive tool set.

If your fortunate enough to get a chance to work with SF: Take It. There’s a better than good chance that you are going to be working with some of the best folks in the Army.

I got the best land navigation training from them. They explained it in a way that was easy to understand, and very easy to practically apply, and it shocked me that it wasn't the standard for doctrinal training.

I would advise not to let a one of them near your significant other, however. From my experience the #1 reason for tabs getting pulled was hooking up with another green beret's wife/girlfriend. Anyone without a tab' s SO was fair game.

And now I’m reminded of how one of Logan Melgar’s SEAL murderers went and hit on his wife later:

The main problem that as I see it is there is no one in the navy that can do a sanity check. Lots of army generals might not have been SF, but enough were ranger or hell just basic infantry to know when something doesn't pass a smell test

I think once they moved past frogmen into actual fighters they should have been made part of the marines, or incorporated into it a bit more even if they technically stayed in the navy.

SF guys seem to be pretty intelligent and well trained. Their CIF(or whatever they were called) teams could get a little seal-esque in getting too trigger happy with killing civilians. We mainly just made fun of them for not getting out on mission that often so they would go really hollywood with their missions. Landing far away and riding ATVs in while having AC-130s shower 105s everywhere.

My dad was SF but that was way back in the 70s. He says that the new guys are pretty much altar boys compared to when he was in.

Yep. And judging by the state of the Ukrainian military I saw, they''d be using that to fund a rifle for every other soldier like the old Soviet days. No wonder it was going to be so disastrous if aid was withheld.
