yes, even people supporting the opposing party, when it comes to the Kurds (more so, even, for the secular Kemalists).

there are also a lot of Turks online, always have been (see Internet Mahir). combined with near constant propaganda of nationalism and religion, and you get a population that’s stupid and insane (me)

being a citizen of USA and turkey I am extremely ashamed and mad atm.

Can you loving imagine being those Special Forces soldiers who had to walk away from what they know is going to be a slaughter of the very guys they were helping protect?
Hey, here's some PTSD for you: sitting idle on an overlook as you watch Turkish artillery shell the very house you were helping protect 24 hours earlier and you know there's a family of six in there and you helped with the youngest kids birthday party a couple days ago and oh well.

The Turkish offensive could have an 80% loss rate and it wouldn't affect them at all, because all the real fighting is being done by FSA auxiliaries. In fact, you'd be doing them a favor by killing all those psychos.

Looking professional when committing genocide is essential. This is mostly achieved by using a beret.

Olive drab colour ensures the genocider will remain hidden from his prey until it's too late for them to do anything.

they don't have to deal with them right now. all those Syrian refugees are stuck in Turkey - which is why Erdogan is invading now. if they really wanted an end to the refugee crisis they'd swallow their own hypocritical liberal values and help the government end the war, so people could actually return to Syria. Turkey creating new zones of occupation controlled by Salafi separatists won't end the war it's just going to draw it out indefinitely and force those refugees back into a warzone.

I absolutely get how this'd be the first time SF guys would feel this way, since they get extraordinary tunnel vision due to their line of work that's limited to the things that they do, see or hear (which is only amplified by the indoctrination they got all the way from boot camp onwards).

So I guess as much as this situation sucks, I'm glad that guy got to see and hear at long last just what a piece of poo poo the United States really is.

the willingness of Russia to act as a mediator should make clear that the United States no longer has any case, whatsoever, to make as a guarantor of peace or even stability but that that title belongs to the so-called pariah states of Russia, Iran, China, DPRK, etc.

Are there organizations one can contribute to that could help the Kurdish people in northern Syria at times like this?

great job to all those European liberal fuckheads who spent the last few years getting super xenophobic on immigration as a compromise with the far right

turns out giving tacit consent to mild ethnic cleansing in their own countries significantly reduces their leverage to complain about foreign ethnic cleansing

I'm pretty sure Israel has always supported forming a Kurdish "second Israel" to act as a bit of a lightning rod against all the hatred thrown their way in the region. Generally Israel just wants to destabilize all their neighbors and this is one of the ways to do it.
