regulargonzalez posted:Probably a new coffee commercial for Japan That would be rad, too. Just five different scenes of Dougie being lead around by a Japanese man wielding a can of coffee. Vince McMahon really is like a strange combination of Leland and Pete in these clips. Imo, the music is not well chosen, though. Feels like Night Life in Twin Peaks should be playing, instead.

Memnaelar posted:I'm just not sure there's much more story that they want to tell. I have infinite faith in David Lynch at this point. Last season is the only show to come back and ever be better than the original, and the original was one of the best shows ever already. Besides, after the end of last season, he could literally tell any story he wanted with as few or as many connections to the previous show as necessary. Every actor could be a different character. If they are really planning on bringing it out in 2020, no way it is near the 18 episodes of season 3, right?

I'm starting late but "Sometimes when we see the eyes, those horrible times when we see the eyes, eyes that have no soul, then we know a darkness. Then we wonder 'Where is the beauty?' There is none if the eyes are soulless." That's some drat fine foreshadowing!

I love the scene between Cooper and Audrey: "What I want and what I need are two different things" is such a good line. He lets her down gently, and redefines their relationship as a friendship right away. Some really good snooping this episode, too: Audrey casually saunters into Emory's office, and pockets that unicorn for later trickery. Hank goes: "She told me in her letters how much it meant, how much Pete helped." and gets Shelly to reveal Big Ed's name. Slightly less competent: Harry looking like a goofus and going "That's our Waldo!" or Cooper setting the tape recorder to voice activation, only to instantly start talking about an illicit raid on a casino. Just the sheer amount of poo poo about to kick off simply amazes me. I always look forward to the season one finale. It's so good. He's covered in mud from head to toe, but his eyes are beautiful. Could I get a screencap of Cooper sliding a cup of coffee over to Harry, please?

There's something so deeply disturbing about hearing Laura's last words (or was it Ronette?) through Waldo (and that itself via cassette tape). Laura's disembodied voice also gets used by James, Donna and Maddy for their scheme which in a way also feels perverse in the way they dress the latter up as Laura. Laura can't rest in peace, she's continually being brought up and used again to help others achieve their goals, and even though it is in service to finding her killer it feels kinda profane in a way. I do love how what at first looks like Audrey just kind of casually fumbling her way through an amateurish investigation turns around with how smoothly she uses the overheard information and pocketed unicorn to get the number she needs. I'm less enamored with how Catherine finds out about Josie and Ben, with the random insurance dude showing up and basically telling her,"So yeah a couple of people who aren't you are trying to take out a life insurance policy on you!" Big Ed completely loving up at the start of the One Eyed Jack's operation and then smoothly recovering is so great though, you can tell Cooper is loving delighted AstroWhale posted:True love

PSA: Chromatics (and Desire (and also local opener Krakow Loves Adana)) kick all manner of rear end live and if you're in Europe anywhere near where they're coming, you owe it to yourself to go. If you're in the US and didn't go, well you missed out. It was definitely a lot more energetic than their performance in Twin Peaks.

If there's a S4 (and I'm not convinced there is, or I'm trying not to get too hopeful) it wouldn't surprise me if the number of recent deaths had something to do with it. Losing cast members and friends, particularly so close to your big reunion, has to steer you towards wanting to do something. My real guess is that its either something flippant like extras for the boxset, or it's a movie.

Season 3 barely had Cooper in it (mostly just Mr Jackpots and evil Cooper) so even if Season 4 was fewer returning characters, just having a whole season of Cooper would be a nice change. I would love to see him going around to different time periods righting wrongs and getting cremated bacon.

"And may the road rise up to meet your wheels." One of the funniest scenes of the series and played to perfection by Forster, among his many other roles. As much as I appreciate Michael Ontkean as Truman, Forster was such a gentle, steady presence in The Return that I can't help but wonder what could have been. I'm so grateful for The Return, and now with Catherine Coulson, Miguel Ferrer, and now Robert Forster all having passed on it will only mean more in subsequent viewing.
