This seems to show cooperation, which doesn't fit my mental model of how this poo poo is going to play out. Any ideas? Maybe just too inconvenient, or do you all think this is a "concession"?

Xi has spent the better part of a decade purging and consolidating control to ensure the party transitions from whatever Deng had going into a top-down ethno-fascist lifetime dictatorship with no internal threats to his seat.
