Video is the son saying describing his father's death: they were marching to get into the General Assembly, police followed them with guns and bombs (tear gas and loud explosive "demoralising" bombs probably). Mounted police shot his dad in the head (unclear whether it was a bullet or rubber bullet/canister) and then the police and medics came and are trying to claim that cause of death was that he fell and hit his head.

today bolsonaro online supporters* are pushing him to go for a military intervention. just another normal day in brazil.

[*] remember that there's nothing organic about how bolsonaro online support move. bolsonaro's son is always involved on pushing every one of these trending narratives.

you say as if this is not a big deal, it's not like this exact crap didn't significantly contribute to bolsonaro's rise and eventually win the elections in the first place.

but alright, it's not that I want to be an alarmist. it's just that, if I learned anything in the last couple of years, we gotta pay attention. these shitheads need to be actively kept in check.

the good news is that bolsonaro's popularity is still falling bit by bit and his party is disintegrating in record time. I don't think the delusional appeal of "back in the dictatorship times things there were better, there were no criminals!" is as attractive as it was before. or so I hope.

Realistically, I see only two paths for another military takeover in Brazil.

They are not going to save an imploding Bozo government. The military here exists and thrives by kicking dead dogs, not propping them up.

They -are- very proactive in exploiting fear and paranoia as ways to shut down what rhey see as the opposition, though.

So here we go:

1- Equador-style mass demonstrations, strikes and such. Many of the hardline generals and their fans pray for a violent movement (or one that can be easily painted as violent) so they can again claim that it's not a coup, it's a counter-coup! And 90% of the media and institutions would back them up, so they'd go for it. They'd either remove Bozo or let him stay as a figurehead, it's a coin toss.

2- Lula is freed and stays in Brazil with political goals. Full stop. Lava Jato may be crumbling, but its results are still seen as sacrosanct, because of how useful they were. They'll rewrite the Constitution if they have to, and in fact, already have. If he gets out and moves to Uruguay with his new squeeze, they'll huff and puff and fleece their dumb followers but not do much more.

If he remains a political rival, all bets are off. Several brazilian institutions are aware of this, and it's part of why they are so terrified of facing the blunders and crimes of the whole deal: it may free the antichrist and there implode the system that makes them rich and fat and happy.

Is pretty repulsive to watch part of the left accepting him as a new ally. He is a liar, a dirty opportunist and an idiot

He is the guy who was fresh out of the porn industry when he joined the far-right in protesting against "degenerated art"

was he accepted really? they just gave him part of the vaza-jato texts in order to further validate the authenticity of the leaks. I thought it was pretty significant, Azevedo turning against lava-jato was not something I'd ever imagine happening.

I feel somewhat the same way about Frota, he is a terrible person but the fact that he was once an ardent supporter and now he shits on bolsonaro is pretty great... "Yes Frota yes, keep doing that..."

the brazilian left is still very far from winning poo poo, breaking these right-wing figures away from the current administration is a good and pragmatic move now (not necessarily taking these people as allies), it corrodes the symbolic effectiveness of this shitass fascist era we're living.

Yeah, can't say I'm too worried about -that- yet with so many bigger fish to fry. Tossing some repentant or opportunistic minion a like and a retweet now and then, or taking a pic shaking hands, really isn't that big a commitment if it means helping pound cracks in the reactionary monolith.

As long as it doesn't replace working to build new progressive names and breathing spaces, that is. And that they are not trusted with actual power whenever the left actually gets some (by the way, backstabbing crook Michel Temer just had his corruption case archived despite having been caught on camera taking bribes. Whatever deal he made sure is holding up!).

Azevedo is funny because its a case of a dumbass who didnt get the memo about lava jato. His whole thing was that he thought lava jato was actually coming after PSDB (they leaked one of his calls with Aecio's sister) and now that it became clear that it was all for show he is probably kicking himself.

Lmfao speaking of people turning the leader of PSL (the Ruling Party) in the House just said he's going to 'implode' the president with tapes after he found out that Bolso tried to backstab him and replace him with his son Eduardo.

i think the best part of these shenanigans is the fact that they made 2 lists to change or keep their leader in congress and somehow there were 5 more people in the lists than in the party in total

turns out some brain geniuses signed both, supposedl to infiltrate the anti bolsonaro camp, although i suspect they might just have tl;dr it or are genuinely extremely dumb :thunk:
