Tingly.

In a rare instance, I thought Dave was being hyperbolic and I found myself agreeing more with Bryan, re: AEW stars being "actually over" or just "live over".

Anyone who is watching Dynamite can tell from the presentation and the crowd reaction who the stars are. Darby and Marko got made last night.

i get dave's criteria, as he's talking about the general public outside of wrestling. the problem with his argument is that the list of "recent wrestlers with recognition outside of wrestling" is incredibly short, and pretty much no regular in wwe meets that criteria either. that, and i'm not sure the definition of "over" is having recognition outside of wrestling anymore.

I trust that Dave would never introduce a new "brother in law" character without properly establishing him first.

I think the big one that does fit Dave's point is Omega, honestly. They're starting to turn it around with this Moxley angle, but the losing streak thing did take a good bit of the shine off him. Especially because it's not like he was working a ton of indie dates (and I know it's because he has office duties at AEW, but still) to keep him fresh in the core audience's mind.

Cody's been incredibly smart, honestly (shows the Rhodes in him) in booking himself strong, but using enough sleight of hand that people think he's not booking himself as one of the headline stars. (And that's not shade, he SHOULD be one of the top guys)

Agreed but all it takes is a couple matches for Omega’s star talent to shine through. Between the dark match and the match last night my brothers (who knew he was good but hadn’t seen much of him) think he’s the best wrestler on the roster.

I think the thing Dave was most correct about was the dark matches. They need to recap those things on the TV show and direct people to the YouTube / show highlights. They’re doing good storytelling on those things.

i like how in aew the top guys have different power levels in front of different crowds all the time. it's not just "gently caress this one guy who is getting pushed too much, we all want the other guy." it's a much more engrossing situation when one week cody got the biggest pops and then moxley gets the biggest pop and then on another show omega dwarfs everyone's. it's like back when people would argue over who was a bigger deal between austin and the rock as they were both happening. i didn't see this was the podcast thread. shari's berries

And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye

Hey, I actually don't think it's that subtle but 75% of people in the AEW thread talk how he's so humble to book himself in the opener or middle of the card.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuyorican

Nuyorican is a portmanteau of the terms "New York" and "Puerto Rican" and refers to the members or culture of the Puerto Rican diaspora located in or around New York City, or of their descendants (especially those raised or still living in the New York area). This term could be used for Puerto Ricans living in other areas in the Northeast outside New York State. The term is also used by Islander Puerto Ricans (Puerto Ricans from Puerto Rico) to differentiate those of Puerto Rican descent from the Puerto Rico–born.

when i still lived in chicago i was out on a stoop watching the puerto rican pride day festivities (lots of flags, fireworks, and hanging out of open minivan doors, often simultaneously) and a friend was telling me that when his band went on tour they did a PR date and a lot of people there fuckin hate second-third-etc-gen puerto ricans in the states. said he was told it was like PR's version of white trash.
