i think cities have the advantage of forcing people into closer confines so that they are forced to recognize their mutual humanity, but it can't be overstated how much integration did to combat racism even in rural areas of the south. when you're young and your brain is gooier its easier to learn that other races are the same as you when you're exposed to them 5 days a week. my dead grandpa refused to talk to my aunt and dad because they stayed in school after integration lol, and today that would be insane and racists with money know that poo poo works too, because a ton of private "christian" schools opened up coincidentally in 1968 and they are 99% white kids. and they are invariably super loving racist. public school still produces plenty of racist white kids, but there are far more who came out without the racist brain poisoning

since we're on the subject, a while back i lived with one of my former best friends who i've known since high school. it was me, him, his dad and some other chud i met when i moved in. all three of em were white, all three of em were staunch republicans and all three of em frequently used the n-word in my presence. the full on chud would use the n-word for pretty much every black person, including (and especially) obama, the other two limited it to more stereotypical black people that pissed them off. it always struck me how my friend would justify his actions by saying there's a difference between racism and prejudice and what he was doing was the latter but not the former. his dad made extra effort to prove he wasn't racist when we were watching a documentary on the kkk one day and he told me that scum like that are racist, unlike him and the other two. all this took place in so-called liberal los angele, california. i can ABSOLUTELY loving believe white people say poo poo like this when they're feeling safe and secure.

preppers are funny because it’s incredible that they don’t realize the super obvious fact that surviving as a lone wolf in an apocalypse is impossible unless you’re nomadic, and almost certainly impossible even then. “I’ll hunt for my food!” okay, and also drag the carcass back home, butcher, clean and salt/smoke it. meanwhile, run a functional subsistence farm, potentially keep chickens or goats (haha hunting when we have already killed 65% of all wildlife) learn how to can veggies safely, cook all of your meals, do all house/property repairs, burying/disposal of human waste, learn field medicine, herbology, and how to make simple remedies or disinfectants; find a stable source of clean water (loooooool), potentially use it to irrigate your farm, give up your vices or learn to make/grow them, adjust to lack of all passive entertainment save written material, loss of all forms of medication both physical and psychiatric, etc etc. it is admittedly fun if you find yourself talking with an apocalypse fantasist to just go “what about this? and this? and this? and this?” and watch their confidence crumble in real time, but I wouldn’t say it should be sought out
